Fight makes no sense at all. How can Parker possibly think this is a good fight to progress him? He has possibly the worst management ive seen for a top ranked fighter . His opponents last win was to a guy with a record of 11 and 7 .His opponent himself is who exactly ? He wasnt even on a Kevin Johnson level a few years ago and has been boxing since 2000 ,but looks more to be a Rugby player anyway . Joshua is absolutely going to smash him in November!

At this point it makes sense only because Parker has already done enough to earn a shot at Joshua. It would not make sense to take a risky fight this close to that goal.

At this point Parker and joshua have had very similar levels of comp. Takam is EASILY the best fighter out of both opponents resume's. After that you can take your pick out of Whyte and (oh golly, I don't believe I'm saying this) Martin as the next best.

Brezeale and Cornish might have been undefeated but let's face it, they were ****.

Comp levels between these two aren't that dissimilar. I would expect Parker to have beaten all of Joshua's opponents and Joshua to have beaten all of Parker's. Joshua is always gonna have more KO's because he is that much more powerful.

It wouldn't surprise me to see Eddie Hearn sneak in another voluntary before they pony up against Parker. I think Joshua has more respect for him as a competitive opponent than you do.

What's he meant to do? He's got the mando spot locked up - now it's just a matter of getting the paperwork and dates in order for the real fight - AJ/Parker.

He really just needs a warm body in the meantime.

Sure, as fans, we'd like to see top notch fights all the time, but it's just not practical when Parker's team is clearly focusing on one goal.

Parker has already stepped up and beaten a level above anything AJ has seen.

Yeah this is probably closest to the truth.

They will be avoiding anyone serious till they sign contracts witth AJ. He's almost completely unknown to the world so his only options are bums he can knock out for his local fans.

I doubt any foreign network will pick it up. They may consider a one time royalty of $10 to show the inevitable knockout punch in a 10 second highlight.

It's definitely going to be one of those fights, yeah. I doubt this one is getting out of the second round. Jab jab jab, right right, punches in bunches, game over.

Assuming Parker's next fight (after this) is a showdown with AJ, it could be a long time before Parker fights in NZ again. At least with this cannon-fodder fight, Parker gets one last hurrah at home before he joins the UK-market sweepstakes.

To be honest I'd do the same. No point in taking big risks when you have the cash cow of the division lined up in your sights. Stay busy, stay sharp ready for serious camp when the time comes. Then at least it won't be too difficult get to fight night fitness.
