Well his amateur resume got sexier if nothing else I guess. How many guys get robbed of a shot at the Olympics to a former world champion?

Esquivel needed two more wins to qualify for the Olympics if I'm not mistaken.

            N'Dam messed up his chances.

I guess I'm lost at how qualifying works.

Esquivel is from USA and N'Dam Cameroon.

Why does losing to him eliminate him from contention?

Because it's a qualification tournament, only tree guys qualify in middleweight, the two guys who will fight at the finals and the winner of a fight between the losers of the semifinals
