The fights have to be made at the right time....i doubt he fights a prime GGG or wins any titles at 168 unless its a scrub
he could make the hall of fame but i doubt he can beat the top guys at 154 and 160...canelito is in a hard place.Comment

Being greater than Mayweather is an extremely hard thing for a boxer to do. Mayweather never lost a fight. He was a world champion from 21 to 38 except during his short retirement. I am a big Canelo fan. I think he will go down in boxing history as a great fighter but he won't be considered as great as Mayweather.Comment

at all of 25 years of age, Saul Alvarez has already been in the spot where he was the best 154lber besides Floyd, and he's likely got another 30 fights in him, if he keeps injury free and sets a good pace, before he likely walks away.
If the man can go 30-0 (beats Liam Smith for another 154 belt, settles into a long reign at middleweight, before closing out his career picking off fights at 168lbs) before heading off into the sunset, he puts his name into that ATG conversation.Comment

Losing your title to a small past prime welterweight is something that will never be forgotten. Canelo would have to prove he wasn't prime yet when he lost to floyd, beat top guys at LMW, MW, and SMW, and not duck anyone. If he waits until 2017 to fight GGG then that last one is out the window. No way in hell Canelo becomes an ATG. He isn't great in his own era let alone others.Comment
