Because sometime HEARN comes off as a bit of a snake

Like last week it seemed this fights a go, Now I don't Know , Brook wants more $ , TR hasn't signed off yet. Just doesn't seem as close as it was advertised last week and I hope its not another bait and switch you know.

Sh.it Kell fans you should be as tired of the last 2 years as anyone on this site because for all the praise Kell receives as being supposedly the #1 WW he hasn't done squat in the ring since he got that belt. And while I want to see this fight and am a Vargas fan , let's be honest about it Vargas appears to be the weakest of the belt holders at WW and realistically a #8-10 at WW, He shouldnt even be the owner of that strap take your pick if it should be ( Mayweather , Pac or Bradley's) but this is still a fight where Brook isn't taking that huge of a risk there's just a shiny strap attached to it that makes it credible.
Great post, Am a Brook fan from wayyyyy back but am not going to sit here and defend BS. I had him fighting Mayweather at wembley when Mayweather came over here and was talking about fighting in the UK before he retired, I went as far to say Brook would be the one because he would pick right into the time-frame. All we hear about is how fights fall apart, am basically tired of him at the moment. Take the short money and get the second belt and push on. We had the same sh;t when Brook was fighting under Frank warren, so this makes me wonder if its the promoter or the fighter himself.

When he says it's over $2mil I'm pretty sure he's including the $600k he's paying Top Rank. Vargas is getting $1.7 mil. Hearn also said he overpaid Brook for the Bizer and Jo Jo Dan fights and he's yet to make a profit from all of the money he's invested in Brook.

        1. Kell is frustrated he's getting less money than Vargas
        2. It's hard getting guys to come over and fight Brook because they want so much money but Hearn was willing to overpay for this fight because it's a unification
        3. None of the American welterweights are offering Brook fights
        4. If Kell wins this fight will put him in a position at the top of the welterweight division
        5. Garcia doesn't want to fight Brook. He's offered him millions and he turned it down
        6. He won't make any money off of this fight but he expects the Golovkin-Eubank Jr fight to make up for it
        7. Kell was overpaid for Bizer, Gavin, Jo Jo Dan. Never made a dime off of Kell Brook.

Of course he is, the promoter usually gets paid out of their fighters purse.

I don't see why Vargas deserves "an absolute fortune" anyway. He's by far the weakest of the welterweight champs. His profile isn't especially high. He got absolutely schooled by Tim Bradley. He's the owner of a paper belt that Floyd essentially tossed in the trash. Hearn should have tried to land Thurman, Garcia, Spence, Bradley... Vargas is such an uninspiring opponent to throw money at.

Someone close to him advised him that Vargas ain't no chump like Brook first thought. "Mate, you've been sleeping on this man but I've seen footage and he's not as bad as we first thought. Since you only went 75% in camp, you might need to pull out of this one or ask Eddie to get you some more money. You need to be compensated for risking a loss".

Don't you ever get tired of picking losers to win?

Big fan of Kell, but concerned by what appears to be a growing trend - problems outside the ring, poor opposition inside (yeh, I know, mandatories), and I've also heard his dad is constantly sticking his oar in. What is it with the dads of boxers anyway? I mean, it's great to support and be proud of what their sons achieve and all, but half of them (especially at elite level) think that their sons' success will miraculously turn them into top trainers, managers, advisors, or promoters, when some are likely to do more damage than good. Obviously, there are exceptions, but honestly some of these dads need to sit down, chill out, and let the pros get on with their jobs. I think Eddie may be covering Kell's ass on this one - out of loyalty, perhaps, or could be that Eddie wants to recoup his investment. Whatever it is, Kell's starting to sound a bit of a nightmare to manage/promote. PS: I'm surprised Amir hasn’t jumped in on this yet!

Dont know why we should care about other peoples money but Vargas is nowhere near worth $1.8million at all. I dont think the fight would genrrate enough to cover purses of everybody on the card. I can see where Brook is coming from with the money splits and if it was a bigger name instead of Vargas then im sure he would see it. Also this aint a fight where he should sacrifice money because all the champs would just say he beat a guy who shouldnt have had the title in the 1st place.
