Though I've great respect for Kovalev and his skill, people greatly inflate the value of the competition he's faced. This is a huge step up for him and will really show what he's made of. He's a great fighter. Is he P4P #1? We don't yet know but someone will walk away with that status Nov 19th.

That actually goes both ways, Ward hasnt seen a man like Kovalev either. There is no doubt that Kovalev beats everyone Ward has beat thus far.

To me, skill only goes so far. Kovalev killed a man, that's enough proof for me that the man will out work you and what he has to do to beat you, even if that means killing you.

He has with Bernard Hopkins albeit an old version but a version of him which was just as cunning and as much of a dirty fighter that Ward is.

Once Bernard felt krusher power he ran until the last round Only cunning skill we saw was to survive to final bell

Neslson makes some great points and if Ward is Ward of old and not rusty I agree he always was number 2 behind Floyd and I liked his output better. The one thing that is not true is that Kovalev is a crude slugger.

Nelson makes great points about Ward and the art of boxing. Fans read and understand what he says about the art. The only mistake is Kovalev is not crude. James Kirkland, Sam Peter that is crude. Kovalev uses jab spacing patcience combos body work sets guys up doesn't look for one bomb

Most people entering the ring with Kovalev are stunned when they feel his actual punches. Not only has he hands of stone; he has an excellent punching technique, often-most with a crisp, sharp deliverance and a lot of them coming in straight lines. He isn't winging or throwing arm punches and it all comes back to his background and solid amateur schooling, etc. Hopkins and Pascal have both mentioned and talked at length about his power on numerous occasions after having both fought him. We saw how stunned Pascal literally was in their rematch and Freddy Roach talked about how Pascal simply couldn't handle the power. Kovalev is on another level from Froch or Kessler.
