I do agree it will be a boxing match but I think Kovalev has the skills to land his power. He will punish Ward and knock him out. By no means will it be an easy fight for Kovalev, but I think he will pull it off.
Again I match you on ANYTHING this goes to a decision...Don't be scurred. You said it not me. I call out easy marks.

Yeah, he also had great hand and foot speed to get himself outta harm's way more time than not when he used it.

jab to the body is solid bc if you can land it while still avoiding counters you know you'll have enough time to land the cross. A stiff one also keeps opp at range. ward by wide dec

Gonzalez is an awesome fighter, I just think the way Kovalev has been crushing opponents and if he were to beat Ward, that's a massive win, enough for me to call him #1. Ward on the hand has a great resume from the past and hasn't done a lot in several years, but a win over Kovalev now combined with his past puts him at #1.

Gonzalez however could still have some big wins to come so none of this is set and stone. For example if he were to fight and beat Inoue, Estrada, etc he would obviously have a strong case for #1. I suppose it also depends on how all these guys look too. If Kovalev barely sc****s by or vice versa while Gonzalez dominates someone like Inoue, than that could change things.

Bit as it stands right now, Kovalev/Ward winner is #1.

Remember Rig got put on his ass in that fight. Most dont get back up after Kov puts someone on their ass!

Pardon my inexperience since i'm not much of a betting man. How does one bet? I won't bet money but i do understand there are point bets and avatar bets. In any case I would bet half my points this fight ends by tko or ko. My conditions are the following.

1)The fight takes place in 2016.Since Ward made that agreement and you never know if Kovalev gets old overnight. I know there is the chance he grows old for the Chilemba fight but i'm willing to let it go since we made the bet at this time.

2)I won't pay up if something fishy occurs. Say Martinez/Cintron or Bute/Andrade.

3)Ward wins by TKO/KO. It most likely will never happen but just to be sure.

4)There is a disqualification by any part.

                Those are my conditions.

I'm fully aware of Chocolatito and how good he is, so I'm not sure what needs explaining to me? I'd imagine he and Kovalev are at the top of P4P lists. They're both great. Anyway, I'm glad the fight's happening, and I respect both fighters. I just think Kovalev wins this one.

While I would say Ward is clearly the superior boxer, Kovalev just hits way too hard. It could be a case of his power impressing the judges more, as I've seen time and time again in match ups like this, close fights tend to be won by whoever shows more power.

That's why I would pick Kovalev. His power will shine. Dudes scary strong and destroys guys placed in front of him.
