I wonder if they ever imagined how soft boxing (and society) would become in a few generations. That never again would people rise to the occasion as they did, that people would gawk in disbelief at what they achieved. Jefferies was 6 years out of the ring and lost over 45kg (100 pounds in the old scale) in a matter of months. That youtube footage of him playing with his dog before the fight is classic.
Now we make up excuses over 5 pounds, or the latest - 1 pound ffs!!
Jefferies did lose, but better to have tried and failed than not have tried at all.
The grass is always greener with nostalgia goggles on. Jefferies retired at 30 and came back at 35 for his comeback fight. Mayweather turns 40 next February.

The guy looked like a middleweight against Pac...he's bigger than he lets on (& this is coming from someone who sees him on a near weekly basis). He lies to the public. We're talking about a guy who bashes every single potential opponent until he actually gets a fight with him...then praises them all the way thru. We're talking about a guy who said he was dehydrated at 147 despite the weigh-in doctor not finding any evidence of dehydration. We're talking about a guy who could have settled the PED thing with Pac once & for all but settled out of court rather than open his drug testing records. He lies. He's always hiding the negatives about his career in order to maintain his brand, his agenda. And Showtime was just another medium for FMJ to push his agenda. You can push that those were the facts if you like...& i will continue to disagree.
The scales don't lie, period!
But I'm not surprised, I already predicted that you will continue to live in your bubble of lies even after being presented with overwhelming evidence, and you have just proven me right.
That this is not surprising in the least bit is a clear indication of the isanity of the boxing fanbase in this forum.

I'm not trying to diminish FMJ's boxing skills. I'm just acknowledging that the guy does whatever it takes to improve his brand. And that includes lying. Call a spade a spade. The 1st articles talks about how he didn't want to get weighed on fight night when he fought JMM. And to many boxing fans who are critical of all boxers, they will say that FMJ doesn't give out his true fight night weight in order to prevent bigger fighters from pressuring him into a bout (like I said before, he makes others lie for him, like Showtime or Ellerbe). And if we're giving FMJ the benefit of the doubt, the 2nd article points to how if FMJ really is a true WW, then why the IV? The guy will lie right to your face if it means protecting his brand. He even told me to my face that the McGregor fight was happening. Seriously...MMA fighter Connor McGregor was intended to be his 50th boxing win. That's where I am forced to be critical of everything FMJ has done regarding his career. I can accept the wins, I can accept the bravado, I can even accept the criminal record. But I cannot accept the lies. I prefer the truth. Of course, you're still going to argue for him. Which begs the question: why the IV? Isn't he a natural WW? I will contend that he is a bigger fighter who is totally capable of fighting at 154. He fought Cotto, DLH, & Canelo at 154 & won. And I contend that his actual fight weight is closer to those of 154 fighters than 147 fighters. You won't believe me. That's ok. Boxing fans are allowed to have their own opinions. Mines just happens to differ from yours. FMj is a HoF boxer who I believe could have had a better career if he had taken on the challenges boxing fans crave. Forget politics. Forget money. The fights are what matters. FMJ was going to get paid anyway, regardless. There were tons of great challenges out there for him, which he refused to take. Boxing fans deserve better. But if you're going to tell me that those images from his Ortiz or Canelo fights were his actual fight night weights, I will contend they weren't. Just more lies to feed to the public.

So he refused to be weighed against Marquez? You're allowed to do that and of course, he refused to be weighed against Marquez in 2009 but accepted against Ortiz is 2011 and weighed in at 150lbs

And that was on HBO.
He also allowed himself to be weighed in 2013 against Canelo and he weighed in at 150lbs, in a jnr middleweight bout, and that was on showtime.
AGAIN in 2014 he allowed himself to be weighed by showtime against Maidana and guess what, just 148lbs.
Against Pac he refused to be weighed by neither HBO or Showtime, but guess what, NSAC had to weigh him for his medical record (dehydration) and, despite taking 750IV, still only weighed in at 149lbs, which is three pounds smaller than Pac's 152lbs.
Continue to hate and present irrelevant opinions, but the facts don't lie. Mayweather is a small welterweight, Scales/Facts > Opinions and no amount of hate or nip picking will change that.
This Floyd NEVER allows himself to be weighed myth that you haters created doesn't checkout when weighed against the facts.
Go spread your lies and manipulations elsewhere, coz they aint gonna pass here buddy.
