To those who think, "what's one more round?" When you can't defend yourself or see the punches coming, that's the type of stuff that rattles your skull and can leave permanent damage.
punches you cant see coming can rattle your brain at any round if you think his conrner prevented him from taking serious long term damage because they threw in the towel in the 10th your an idiot. The damage was already done he got beat from rd 1-10 so your theory of "stop the fight in the last rd to prevent damage" is ******ed. There actually are strategies to boxing, if your fighters so behind on points he cant win besides a KO and he doesnt have ko power why continue to let him fight for 3-4 rds then stop it in the last rd. Fight should have been stopped in the 6th end of discussion

So since they didn't stop it in 6th they should compound the error by not stopping at all? He was defenseless at that point, with 3 mins to go. Of course he was in worse shape than 3 rounds ago, hed taken a bad beating esp in round 9

Perfect stoppage. He'd been taking a beating and didn't have the power to keep Shafikov off of him. Between the 9 & 10th round his corner told him they were gonna stop the fight if he didn't show them something. Soon as Shafikov landed a flush shot they stopped it.

You seem to grasp the concept that the punches you don't see coming are the dangerous ones so it defies logic how you can't put together the fact that his responses were severely degraded in the 9th and non-existent in the 10th, causing him to be hit with a far greater volume of dangerous punches.
"The damage was already done"??? No, that's dangerously foolish. There was plenty of permanent damage to be had.

Stopping in the 6th because he was down on points? lol, whut? So, despite the fact that more than half of Herring's wins were by KO, coach should tell Jamel that he has no faith in him and they are quitting half way through? Good call there....

^Absolutely agreed. The coach was generous by giving him the benefit of the doubt and warning him after the 9th. There is no glory in taking 3min of pure damage. 3min where the public sees you getting helplessly battered and likely KOd. This isn't a damn roman colosseum.
