They did the right thing but they should have pulled Him out of the fight a couple of rounds earlier. He was outclassed and taking a pounding and didn't have skills to do anything about it. He didn't have the punching power to win with a lucky punch either. He didn't win a single round on my score card. If Herring has plans of being a future champion he is in for disappointment. He is 30 years old and not good enough to ever improve to that level.

In the 9th, I was telling myself, "This is getting to become the type of thing that shortens a career."
Trainer made it clear and warned him repeatedly. Stoppage was perfect. Gave the guy every reasonable chance and got him out of there when the potential for permanent damage became too high.

To those who think, "what's one more round?" When you can't defend yourself or see the punches coming, that's the type of stuff that rattles your skull and can leave permanent damage.

i think the ref should have stopped it in the 9th, he took a real beating in that round. his corner probably shouldn't have let him come out for the 10th and i don't think they really wanted to let him have one more round, but they eventually gave in. they said show us something or we're stopping it. so they gave him a chance and threw in the towel as soon as he got tagged at the beginning of the round.

i thought it was good that they remained true to their word and stopped it at the beginning of the round instead of letting him try to recover and get beat up for the entirety of one more round. it should have been stopped before that round though, in my opinion.

Yes, and they could have stopped a round earlier, he couldnt keep the russian off, he was taking a beating and was standing on guts and heart alone.

If I was his corner, I wouldn't have let him come out for the 10th.

But it was good they stopped when they did, imo. A few more flush left hooks like that and Herring could've been hurt bad.

He can go back and work on some things, develop a bit, and still have a good career. He's got decent skills and a good back story.

He just bit off more than he could chew.
