Big talk. Fair play to him if he steps through the ropes though. This is a monumental step up in class from the fighters he's bested and it's a very big step up from the one that bested him. A little disconcerting that he believes Golovkin relies solely on punching power. It's an absurd statement but I guess a touch of absurdity is always gonna be part of the Eubank package.
Maybe I'm sleeping on this kid because I don't like him, in or out of the ring, so I find myself looking for things that confirm my own bias. He's got good punch technique but his selection is often sloppy. The combos that he throws after he lands the uppercut give the impression that his eye is on himself and how he looks to the spectator rather than on his opponent. He often misses widely, looking off into the distance like a gloved Derek Zoolander, when his man's there to be hit.
I applaud their bravery when others seem to be shrinking but Senior's love affair with all things Junior may be about to plunge his son into deep water with no hope of making it to shore.Last edited by - Ram Raid -; 07-02-2016, 09:09 AM.Comment

Speed and power beats ggg. He hasnt faced anyone who had both. And he doesn't have both. Just power. I'd bet on Eubank jrComment

By the way he fights, Eubank must think that the best defense is a good offense. When he gets hit he tends to get fierce, pressures, and tries to get off first. He has shown some defensive, counter-punching efforts but that very thing is what lost him the first 5rds against Saunders.I'd imagine it will all come down to how good Eubank's defense is, and whether his game plan involves being the counterpuncher. Obviously Eubanks is just trying to build the fight, and would keep that up til the fight happens. But he can't stand in front of GGG and try to out gun him.
Chris sucks at countering but ggg has a tendency to pause when he gets hit (does it in almost every fight and fans pretend he's "letting them get in punches"). I suspect Chris will use his pressuring ability to capitalize on that. Problem is, he's so wide, sloppy, and open to counters that ggg is bound to catch him at some point.Comment

GGG cuts off the ring effectively and there's no Boxer to mind that does that today. There is a lot more pivoting or lateral movement in this day and age. Lomachenko based on his last performance is the perfect example, Keith Thurman also.
Golovkin is a special breed, there's not many like him. Scratch that, NOBODY like him. The criticism of GGG is the level of competition and with this fight I don't want to hear any negativity afterwards. This is a top quality fight.Comment

Yes! I'm actually trying to say that this is a good thing for Golovkin's rep, that I totally respect it, and all I hear from these guys is, "Eubank is worthless and you are never going to give Golovkin any credit". These guys act so insecure sometimes.Comment

Well said. Chris has the speed and power...discipline is the issue.By the way he fights, Eubank must think that the best defense is a good offense. It's odd because senior was almost like a karate fighter in his discipline. Precise, crisp, retracted his arms and returned to his stance in an almost robotic way.
Jr turns into a wild, clubbing barbarian every time he goes on offense. I though Sr would have nixed that. Esp since Jr looked different in his early fights.Last edited by Redd Foxx; 07-02-2016, 09:24 AM.Comment

Anyway, I'm sorry young Eubank, but there WILL be excuses after a win.
"Golovkin's old doe"
"All Eubank did was run"
"Why'd you wait so long to fight him?"
"Why didn't you fight him in the US?"
"Crooked UK judges doe"
