Canelo would be GGG's best opponent to date if he were to fight him now. Canelo is the biggest ppv draw, & by beating him GGG could very well become the biggest ppv draw himself...it would be a legitimizing fight for either boxer. It is a legit boxing fight. And Canelo is definitely no 154 fighter. I'd like to see him make 154 first before I believe that. Canelo is a 160 fighter so long as he retains the lineal MW belt. And until The Ring strips him, Canelo will be considered a MW. Once again, Canelo would be the best bout for GGG right now.

And boxing has always been about rooting for certain fighters. Why wouldn't a boxing fan root for a specific boxer? You're not going to watch a fight to see the referee, or the promoters. What other way is there to look at boxing?

Bad logic. I'm sure a ton of boxers out there would like to sign a contract that guarantees they'll get the champion at the end of it. If GGG could get that kind of guarantee, I suspect he'd sign that contract too. And here's the fallacy of your logic: a Ward/GGG fight could very have happened if Ward didn't block it by signing that HBO contract. In essence, Ward ducked GGG by moving up a weight class. I don't think anybody can duck someone not in their weight class...but, if there was a duck, Ward is thy name. And you can't tell me he's daring to be great when we're on the 4th tune-up fight for Ward. 4. Daring to be great requires no tune-ups, or half as many as Ward has needed. You also can't tell me HBO forced Ward to sign to fight at 175 because there's a lot more money to be made if Ward was willing to stay at 168 & fight the remaining SMW's like Dirrell, Bute & DeGale. So, your logic is bad. Try again.

Its not just get paid, it's all that exposure. That's a big time Ppv, the biggest fight in boxing. It's how Floyd and Pac became superstars, beat Mr Ppv. In Ppv terms the other guys contribute as much as Lemieux. Canelo is also the only one with a p4p standing and HOF prospects fwiw

To a boxing fan, it is fairly obvious why Canelo campaigned at 155: enjoy the size & power advantage over all 154 fighters while arguing that he can't fight true 160 fighters because he's too small. And your logic doesn't make any sense whatsoever. I'm a boxing fan too, you know. I watch all the fights & read all the articles. I work in the industry ffs. And believe me, there is no other way to follow boxing: you root for your favorites while continually supporting the sport. You think I'm a cheerleader? Please. GGG becoming a ppv star will only legitimize to the rest of the world what I've felt about him for the past 6 years. And, btw, GGG isn't even my favorite fighter. You're looking at this whole issue tru rose-tinted glasses. The reason I desire a GGG/Canelo fight is because it would be a huge boxing event (likely the highest grossing ppv event of the year) & would bring in a ton of casual fans, & it is a matchup I want to see between what everyone believes to be the future star of the sport versus the guy who I believe should be the future star in GGG. FMJ & Pac both legitimized their claim to be the top thru their ppv numbers. I would like GGG to do the same. There is nothing wrong with that from a boxing fan's perspective.
