      Bad business decision

This interview was in September so the offer was made in March-Feb 2015

Yep, Loeffler admits Ward told him in May to stop talking about him since they turned down the offer

But could Ward had made 168? Two and a half weeks out from his fight with Paul Smith he was 173 lbs

My next fight is contracted at 172lbs. With 2 1/2 weeks left, my weight is good!! #June20th #WardVsSmith

But after the Paul Smith fight Ward decided he was moving up to 175? No, he was waiting on a decision from Kovalev since GGG had already turned him down.

the fight was not going to happen....K2 and HBO were protecting their new hypejob...cough cough.....investment

Ward claimed he had records of emails sent to Loeffler that proved the offer was made before GGG signed for Lemieux.

Abel Sanchez flat out called Ward a liar, and Ward's lawyer threatened to sue him if he said anything like that again. So Abel said it again, and Loeffler backed him up. They didn't get sued and Ward's team have quit making that claim now.

Did HBO send somebody round to Ward's house with a contract and a gun?

I read that Ward's manager, James Prince, is a guy who nobody messes with. How come he didn't look after his investment and stop HBO from pushing li'l Andre around?
Just going off what Ward stated in his interviews. I'm sure there are lots of behind the scene things that fans will never know about.

Great post that was backed up with links, quotes, pictures and sources. We all missed out on a great opportunity to see two of the sports pound for pound best go at it.

I've seen video of Ward admitting it was after but that he didn't know and that it offered one fight before. So Golovkin could have had back to back ppvs.

Golovkin was already committed to going for the winner of Cotto/Canelo, and Ward didn't have his tune-up fight till March this year, so no, Golovkin couldn't have had back to PPVs, unless he wanted to give up his WBC mando position and sit around doing nothing till Ward was ready for him.

Well they had Lemieux signed and thought they would eventually get the Canelo fight soon after being Golovkin was mandatory. I doubt they anticipated Canelo dropping the title and his pride. Also if we're going to be fair, Ward had a chance to fight Golovkin in 2013 at 168 and Ward wasn't interested. Missed opportunity for Ward.

That's the thing. Nobody would have predicted the biggest "star" in boxing literally running down to a weight division to avoid having to face GGG right away. It seemed like Canelo couldn't make 154 anymore and would eventually ease his way into 160.

Exactly. And he would also have to have kept his fingers crossed that Ward didnt pull out with an injury or lawsuit......
