ggg haters in the past "floyd is the a-side therefore he doesn't need to fight so and so, what does he bring to the table? he doesn't bring any money" orrrr "floyd is the a-side therefore they need to accept his terms even if they are terrible!"

what happened to proving how great you are? oh wait maybe if ggg fights some past prime guys like hopkins, pavlik, and martinez that will show how great he is

It appears that's where we are at right now.

        • Lol. Jacobs and 4 million dollars doesn't even sound right for his career earnings.

He needs a dancing partner that looked good lately , Jacobs fits the description , he is American which is a + as well , GGG WANTS the WBO but when BJS doesn't want it you need to fight someone else and Jacobs is as good as any in the MW division.

5 of Jacobs last 9 fights have been at Barclays Center, Jacobs-Mora II will be held at the Barclays Center, and Barclays Center has been clear in their support for their native son.

K2 being unwilling to put up the money, Lou DiBella calls Frank Warren to see what it'd take to put Saunders-Jacobs together (rather than talk platitudes about possible money, the two gentlemen actually negotiate something) or the WBA pulls Golovkin's card (with Jacobs already mandatory challenger, the low-ball offer from K2 will inherently trigger the purse bid, and DiBella seems more willing to spend the money with him than K2 seems willing to spend their own money; DiBella owing no allegiance to HBO, K2 has a decision to make).
Do you think Jacobs is worth more than Golovkin? GGG made a career high $2 million to fight Lemieux. Jacobs made $1.5 million to fight Quillen, who made the same amount. What justifies a jump to $4-5 million to fight Golovkin? Canelo's people were willing to pay Khan $13 million, because they knew they'd make it up in the back end on Canelos' name. Khan accepted that amount, because he figured it would be worth getting KO'd for. Golovkin and Jacobs are both trying to raise their stock with big name wins. A realistic purse for this fight would be $3 million for Golovkin & $2.5 million for Jacobs.

Being handed three belts has nothing to do with it; Alvarez, Cotto, Jacobs, Saunders, Lara, Andy Lee, and Peter Quillin, among others, all have fights in hand that pay better than the nonsense pay that K2 has already been shown willing to pay for Golovkin's opponents (and nice try with that "p4p without fighting anyone else serious" nonsense).

If Golovkin wants to continue on fighting cans, so be it; he's already 34, has maybe 2 more years before the body starts to fall apart (with the extensive amateur career that he's had, on top of what would be 13 years as a pro and doing it all at the same weight, the lack of some breakdown would be suss).

The notion that Golovkin is supposed to continue on making $1.5m/$2m to fight, while quality opponents are shamed into taking steep discounts on their own purses to fight a guy who hasn't fought anyone and is not a star, is laughable.
Golovkin is considered P4P whether you or I believe he deserves it or not. So, yeah, I think beating Golovkin would make a fighter a big deal. You disagree? Is that worth anything? 3 MW titles and the buzz of beating GGG?

Who was underpaid by GGG? Who have they lowballed? Give me numbers please. Was Wade worth half a million? How would K2 have been in a position to underpay Canelo or Cotto? Jacobs and Saunders want PPV money but they're not PPV worthy names. Neither was Lemieux who made $1.5mil and look what happened. Hell, GGG's not even a PPV headliner at this point. But he's most definitely a bigger star than Jacobs, Saunders, Lara, Lee, or Quillen. You think any of those guys bring in money without GGG?

Quillen and Jacobs each got $1.5mil for a fight in their hometown at Barclay's center in front of only 8,443 in attendance and and average of 386k on Showtime. After making over a million heading a pair of fights against two scrubs, Lara was paid $700k against Vanes in a fight that drew less than 500k on Showtime. Do I need to point out any more here? How much should these guys make in comparison to GGG if they were to fight?

If Daniel Jacobs wins the fight, that $5m bet turns Jacobs into a $7m-$10m per fight fighter, for however long his run on top goes (speaking in terms of total revenue; ie live gate, TV money, international TV money, sponsors, merch, etc), with the drop off not being all that drastic were he to lose again.

If Daniel Jacobs loses the fight (as long as he doesn't get washed in 3 rounds), the $5m bet still turns Daniel Jacobs into a fighter you could feature in NYC at Barclays Center at do $3m-$4m per fight as he builds for another shot at the titles.

Beyond that, if the odds were as tilted as you want to have folks believe, why is HBO, "where the p4p elite fight", so hesitant to put up the money?

Daniel Jacobs is a known fighter in New York (all but guaranteeing two fighters being able to drive up local interest in the fight), the hardcore fight community knows that Daniel Jacobs can fight (undergirding the PPV audience coming from the hardcore fan), and Daniel Jacobs has a story that is basically tailor-made for an extended ESPN/casual sports media push ("Miracle Man" Daniel Jacobs is basically a real-like depiction of "Cinderella Man"; menacing monster as the champion, hard-luck fighter whose career was stalled out for other reasons, road back to the top, capped off with a shot at the full titles).

If you wanted a way to turn your 34 year old can crusher into a star, why wouldn't you bet the money on such a fight, especially if it's such a gimme.
What were the ratings in Jacobs vs Quillim and the attendance?

                    • With respect to GGG he is absolute BEAST of a fighter but his Promotion don't have that type of money to throw away, how would they? It is not a Big Promotion at all so how would them come up with that big of a Purse then also pay their guy which would have be be more than what Jacobs makes

Fans talk like the Money is easy to get, then when the uncertainty of Boxing Fans and how a lot of us are so Fickle, it is not worth the investment if you don't know for sure if you will be able to make that money back and a profit

That could be the reason why they're extremely patient with Canelo with the hopes that Canelo will one day pick GGG as his opponent because to be honest that is really his only chance at a mega pay day is with Canelo
