    Why Thurman Didn't Clinch

His inside game is lacking so why didn't he clinch?

I've seen him say in a few interviews he simply doesn't like it, I think it's an ego thing, I love that attitude

Clinching requires skill. Seriously. You can't just grab or the opponent will move you, hit you, tire you, etc. He might not be effective at it. Look how Ward beats up guys in the clinch, even when they initiate it.

Most likely though, I think he wanted to get in counters. He did a few times, but not nearly enough to justify hanging out on those ropes. That was a bad look.

Truthfully because Porter wasn't so much better, that Thurman himself couldn't get off on the inside. Porter did not win all of those exchanges when he had Thurman pinned on the ropes, Thurman landed quality shots of his own.

Wouldn't surprise me but it contradicts Keith's preaching about fighting smart.

I love that attitude about Thurman too.

But when Porter landed that good body shot on him(I forget which round) Thurman did clinch Porter.

But thurmans attitude about things is fun to watch and listen too.

Because he knows clinching is cheating. Shame the fans let it slide as long as they get bragging rights for backing a cheater. Good on Keith.

I'm glad he didn't, personally I thought the fight was not going to be that great, I thought it was going to be porter getting in and Thurman tying him up with few exchanges.

This guy knows what he's talking about!

It's probably not a good strategy for Thurman. he's not the strongest WW, he'd get mangled and tired out in a clinch.
