Boxing isn't about being more active. Porter deserve to lose. He doesn't look like a boxer. Thurman won this clearly with clean punches and showed better defense than Porter. This is the type of fights where dumb fans scores for the guy coming forward and not connecting solid blows. Porter had his moments where he out-worked Keith on the inside, but it wasn't consistent. Keith out-boxed and hurt him several times. I'm not impressed by either fighter. Kell Brook might be the absolute best Welterweight.

I scored it a draw but I am fine with the decision. Draw or 7-5 either way was cool with me...hell even 8-4 would have been acceptable because there were so many close rounds that were hard to score.
Porter lost but does it really feel like he lost??? Fights like this are what boxing needs: Porter took the L tonight but came out looking better than he did before the night started. I hope more fighters take notice and face tough competition more often and stop worrying about the Floyd method where the "0" is the end all be all.
This fight lived up to the hype for sure. Fights like this make a lot of the BS we put up with as fans worth it just so we can get nights like this.
Both fighters deserve a ton of credit. Hope we get more of fights like this in the near future.

Porter is packing absolute granite man, he took some unbelievable flush punches upstairs.
I wanna see Thurman vs Danny and Porter vs Guerrero nextLast edited by Sgtairborne24; 06-26-2016, 02:18 AM.

Just like Vargas-Salido, another good but overrated fight. No knockdowns, lots of holding and smothered punches that is supposed to pass for "amazing action!" There were maybe 10 good exchanges in the fight where either Thurman or Porter, mostly Thurman, landed bombs, and Porter looked hurt, and that created suspense and excitement. Otherwise I was entertained for the rest of the fight but not really on the edge of my seat once they both showed they couldn't hurt each other that much unless it was the perfect shot. That combined with the holding, smothering, low punch output especially by Thurman, and all the breaks in the action made it not quite as good as the commentators understandably tried to hype it.
Still my fight of the year 2016 because 2016 has ****** and at least these were two very good fighters. I prefer a fight like this with good fighters than a total slugfest between average guys.

Great fight. Tense fight throughtout.
Thurman clearly won 116-112,
Porter calling Thurman a runner is a joke, Porter has 1 speed to smother and use his body pressure to make his opponets uncomfortable but he rarely lands effective. This isn't football in a ring
Thurmans now #1 WW.

As for scoring, absolutely no way Porter won this fight. He didn't have a clear round the whole fight. Thurman didn't have a ton either but he had a handful of clear rounds. Porter had almost no clear rounds. You could have scored it 11-1 or 10-2 Thurman if you gave him every close round. I saw it minimum 8-4 Thurman, maybe 9-3.

I had Porter up one round, besides the few and I mean few punches that landed for Thurman. Other than those Porter gave him the blues most of the night. Also Thurman must have some head damage because at the presser he said he defense was perfect. Im not a professional by any means but if you have stitches on your head from punches you took, your defense is far from perfect lol.
