What Should Gennady Golovkin Do Next?

Yeah. The GGG fans have been killing Ward (and rightfully so) for HBO giving him 2 tuneups before Kov. Now they are doing the same thing for GGG before Canelo.you a hater doe....lol...i agree this is exactly what hbo is doing...let him rack up belts.....2/3 he never fought for anyway...when the opponent is crap, you can just sya its a mandatory...his d!ckriders will excuse this and HBO will hype up the no name and his name all the while we wait for him to prove he is p4p, while not taking risks...this has been 3 years and going....he is gonna be washed up before he fights an elite fighter.Comment

If no Jacobs or Saunders, I would prefer him to try and lure up Andrade, Lara, etc etc. He should get full credit. The size crap is bogus. All these top 154lbers, outside Lara, are big kids for the weight class. I think he kills all of them, outside of Andrade, but none the less, its where the best talent is imo.The only major fights at 160 are Canelo, Jacobs and Saunders, none of which will happen this year. He turns 35 next year and father time is undefeated in boxing. His options include:
1. Camp out at 160 and fight fringe contenders and up and comers until the big fights come along.
What I like about this
This option keeps him the most active, allows him to continue to chase the record for MW title defenses and will put pressure on the other top fighters to make the big fight happen. Plus a fight with Eubank will increase his name recognition in the UK which could potentially get Saunders the ridiculous dollars he's looking for.
What I dislike about this
His recent level of opposition has been subpar and I cannot stand to see another Dominic Wade/Willie Monroe Jr. type opponent. Also, at age 35, father time will catch him at some point and I would hate to see the career of a fighter of this caliber be controlled by Canelo.
2. Go after some top fighters at 154 such as Lara, Andrade and the Charlos.
What I like about this
There was a point in time where these junior divisions did not exist. Their existence has really watered down the sport. Imagine how strong a combined 154/160 division would be. To me, these wins enhance his resume against higher caliber of opposition than exists at 160.
What I dislike about this
Even if he beats a top fighter at 154 he will not receive full credit for beating up on a smaller guy moving up in weight.
3. Move up to 168
What I like about this
Many of the ATG's of the past all moved up in weight and established themselves as elite fighters in several weight classes. Plus, fighters with size advantages may be more willing to fight him.
What I dislike about this
Since Ward left the division this move has become less intriguing. Outside of Jack and Degale, fighters are still mostly unproven (Zurdo), past prime (Abraham, Bute) or have already proven to be nothing more than fringe contenders (The Dirrels).
4.Shoot for the top
What I like about this
Challenging the winner of Ward/Kovalev would take balls and a victory would solidify ATG status.
What I don't like about this
I just don't think he can beat those guys and the risk is not worth the reward.
Thoughts?
168 is no different than 160 imo. He basicly has one dangerous fight (DeGale), a couple of past it guys and several unknown quan******. Jack has already said he is jumping to 175. Zurdo, AA, Bute and the rest of the lot are no better than a BJS, or Jacobs etc. Plus I don't think he has any better luck getting most of those guys in the ring anyways outside of maybe DeGale and Zurdo. So he would just end up in the same boat hes in now, just at a higher weight class, while basicly ending any hope of fighting any of the 154lb guys.
175 would be suicide. As good as I think he is, and I think his power would carry, that is still a monster leap. He could beat a lot of guys, but a fight with the Ward vs Kovalev winner? Hehe that would be madness. Would love to see it though.Comment

its 2 totally different situations'
Ward was inactive because he had litigation issues, couldnt fight and injuries....GGG has been the most active big name fighter in the game and what has he done? He beat Lemieux for a belt and had one given to him
its smart management not to put a rusty guy in too tough off the rip...at least he is fighting Kov in november and he is in a new division
At least Ward has been in with top guys, elite guys....GGG is supposed to be p4p # 3 or 1 to some, then watch his fights and his opponents and he clearly fights overmatched no names.
Ward would be getting the bizness from me if Kov wasnt looming but come on...we wont see GGG vs Canelo til next yeat and in the mean time we'll be fed "mis-mandatories"...guys we never heard of, on house arrest, but he the "mandatory doe!!!"
this horse ride has gotten old....**** K2 and GGG unless they have a fight signed to fight a top 5 middleweight or someone top 5 at 154 or 168
Lemmie was a step in the right direction but the belts seem like a bargaining chip to get Canelo in the ring, and also a way to rack up victories and pad his record vs Cans...well he is the can man...any can, can get it.Comment

Yep. Can't even suggest a think outside the box situation. I asked yesterday and couldn't get a serious response or a serious plan different from mine.
Seems like people think. Canelo is the endgame for GGG and they should continue on the path they've been going. That same path that has led to nothing. His fans are content with covering their ears and yelling "nobody wants to fight him" but don't realize money is the reason he can't get fights. If somebody is offering more money to get the big fights you go where the money is. This isn't unusual. All fighters have done it.Comment

I really want him to beat Saunders/Jacobs/Canelo/Eubank at 160 first though/get all four belts, but then he would be too old to move up. So what I'm hoping is: if he can't fight one of those guys, then a fight at 168 would be great (depending on the opponent).
Unfortunately, the haters will swarm him and call him a bum if he loses, but it is what it is. They will ignore the fact that out of the top 10 SMWs, only one is shorter than him (Abraham), that he has basically the shortest reach (shorter than Abraham), and is also the smallest in terms of weight at this division.
Not even Floyd fought an, "Andre Ward" level of opponent that was in their prime when he moved up. He was never shorter/had lesser reach against 95% of his opponents. Only person that comes to mind that was bigger, is ODLH and he was already shot. It would be kind of like, Floyd fighting Lara at 154.Comment

If his next fight is Eubank, that means his resume for the year is Dominic Wade(who?) and Chris Eubank, a promising young fighter, but all hes beaten have been domestic level guys. That's truly a waste of a year for anyone considered one of the top fighters in boxing. I remember a few months back we had a thread of people ****ting on Errol Spence for fighting Algieri and then Bundu later this year. Where is the frikkin disconnect???Comment

lol what? First, there is no "before Canelo". There is no deal, not even a deal to fight in principle. Essentially it's a "don't negotiate with us until late 2017 at the earliest". Nothing here, no fight. Ward & Kovalev at least agreed to fight each other so if Ward and/or Kov want tune ups, cool whatever at least we know they are fighting. Second, GGG fans and people who criticize HBO/Ward for his two tune ups aren't mutually exclusive. NSB is a poor representation of what the boxing world thinks in general.Comment
