What is the time period of which this "fighter of the year" is for?

I take it this award is for the period before McGregor got KO'd right?!

Alverez can't win due to blatant duck & and fighting glass chinned 140/147 fighter.

Golovkin can't win because he only fought Lemieux & Wade.

Robbie Lawler pfft beat some bums.

So that leaves Roman Gonzalez. Or Golovkin since he defeated Canelo and won his belt without even throwing a punch.
