    big ass middleweight.....yikes

I sparred a guy around 06 with your size...Im only 5'6"-5'7" and it showed me why their are weight classes. I was like 148-152 and this kid was about your height, more like 5'11"-6'0"

He didnt budge when I hit him yet he moved me even when I blocked shots.

My trainer put me in with him because I usually could overpower or outspeed guys my size...Had to do 5 rounds of sparring with the guy/....first 3 rounds only could throw body shots and jabs to the head

he was teaching me how to break people down I couldnt overpower...it was effective but the pressure of holding someone off so big even if they werent landing was killer

Yeah I sparred a journeyman a few years ago who had more defeats than he had wins, he was about 20 pounds heavier than me and I couldn't keep him off with headgear, pillow gloves etc, he beat the **** outta me, the size definitely comes into play especially as the fight goes on and you're tiring.

we are broad shouldered, bull necked short guys at 5'6" yet I can get under 150 no problem yet he looks like Skeletor and unhealthy anywhere under 160.

its all about the frame....He is built like a mini samoan (curtis stevens type with less striations)

Im the mini coup version who can get all the cuts and striations yet with skinny bird legs, his are like tree trunks but we are always 10-15 pounds apart in weight
Your bro sounds like hes a running back Frank Gore type frame

One perfect example of frame sizes and I always point it out to people is look at Arreola vs Stiverne 2. They basically came in the same exact size but Stiverne was wider and held that weight better. For Arreola to have been able to keep up with Stiverne athletically, he wouldve needed to come in at least 15lbs lighter and lose it the healthy way of course not cut it out last minute to try and impress the fans that he lost weight.

In the ams I weighed 165 (middleweight), never more, never less but that was mainly because I was always training. Now I'm at 178lb (checked last week). Slightly soft round the belly but nothing noticeable because I'm still training about 3-4 times a week.

If I was to ever box again, I'd probably stay north of 170 as I feel more comfortable there.

I think the automatic impulse is to come forward

I watched a lot of Ivan Calderon and Cotto back then when I was boxing....I usually let the taller guys come to me and fought them off the pivot or just simply outmaneuvered them. Attempted to counter their jab by slipping inside and throwing my own or slipping outside and countering with a str8 right

coming forward kinda plays into their game

yep...You can tell Stiverne is just a more solid natural heavyweight. Arreola kinda ate his way there..didnt he fight at 179 and 200 in the ams?

its crazy cuz I have a beer guy anywhere past 165 yet my bro can get as high as the 190s and still have no gut.

right now I'm 165 but if I was a boxer I'll the lowest I could make is 140 and the highest 154 have a small frame and only 5'8 would be to small for 160

                    indeed

I was more mentally tired than physically, I didnt get hit much but I hit this kid with everything and he smiled a few times

I was 21 and he was 17-18 but much bigger

im thinking im not getting my ass whooped by no high school kid, **** that

By round 3 the pressure was so hard I said **** it and hit him with 2 clean straight rights in a row(i saw the opening since round 1)...then my trainer jumps in the ring and says "if you throw another powerpunch, before the fourth round, you'll be doing the last 2 against me!"................welp back to body shots and jabs lol......my old trainer was a pro boxer and kick boxer, was only 2-3 years older than me but had to retire from an injury sustained in a fight

5'10-5'11, about 150 on average. Then again, my age & still quick metabolism have to do with my natural weight. A big hindrance to not being heavier is my lack of leg muscle because of lordosis, just physically can't.
I was getting towards 160 earlier in the year when I was healthier overall & lifting harder(gym every day in college, rn I'm out), but I have to take a whole month off for July for several injuries either way...
