NEWSFLASH:Ladies and Gentleman lets give a standing ovation...

    NEWS FLASH
    Mayorga update!
“I felt good about my performance, but my eye swelled up, and I couldn’t see some shots." When asked if he felt that he had hurt Trinidad when he knocked him down in the third round, Mayorga replied, “No,” and left the ring and immediately left Madison Square Garden in an ambulance for Bellevue Hospital. At the hospital, translator Tony Gonzalez asked Mayorga if he was okay. El Matador replied: “I’m fine except for a bruised heart.” He was later seen at his hotel where members of his team said he was fine and mentioned that he did not receive stitches for the gash under his left eye. He is scheduled to return to Nicaragua later this week.

These are some of the best and emotional words, I have heard from Mayorga. I hated that son of a ***** with a passion but it is glad to see him on a positive side and stop his antics.

Yeah, I think Mayorga gained some fans in the defeat. He's far from done.

I agree. He's far from done.

Two consecutive losses from great fighters is no shame. That loss to Cory Spinks was a result of a bad style match-up (not taking away anything from Cory). Tito gave him his first thorough beating because of his crazy macho man antics...and Trinidad was simply the better skilled boxer. He looked less one-dimensional this time though because the man in fron of him loves to punch and is willing to take risks compared to the Spinks Jinx.

Micky Ward never made a million dollars til he had over 10 losses. But people wanted to see him because of how he fought. Mayorga could be the same way. I know a few months back he said he only wanted a few more fights and then wanted to retire, but you never know with Mayorga, what he says and what he really means.

Gatti vs. Mayorga would be incredible if they could meet at 147.

            Point taken.

Gatti vs. Mayorga. Could well be one hell of a short fight. Gatti would give a good account of himself as long as it last, but I don't see his chin holding up against a Mayorga power punch. Mayorga by KO within 4 rounds max.

Mayorga beats Gatti at 147. Gatti can't handle 147 and he even said it himself.

Oscar sure beat the hell out of him. Gatti probably shouldn't move up.

Kinda refreshing to hear an honest account of the match from a boxer. I gained a lot of respect for him.

I think the smoking is just a PR trick, he's in wicked shape,he never gassed in that fight he just stubbornly succumbed to a barrage of wicked power shots
