Would Joe Smith Jr. be an acceptable opponent for Ward's interim fight before Kov

The guy came out of no where and upset Fonfara....I havent seen enough of him, but he mad a splash into the division.

It would be wise for Ward to get an interim fight in. He has until the end of July and Smith just had a short night.

    What do you guys think?

Since when does a lucky punch win grants you a mando fight ? All he showed was being able to finish an already dead Fonfara... Do that in the next 2 fights against other credible opponents and then maybe...

As a stay busy-fight before KOVALEV, then yes, Joe Smith Jr. is acceptable. He's not a bad fighter at all, he's a very dangerous puncher.

I hear what you're saying, in fact it will benefit Smith Jr. for more fights, but Smith Jr. tested Fonfara's strength and went for the kill. He's heavy handed! Plus his finishing combos all made effective contact. That's not luck. He's well trained.

I think the BEST move for PBC right now is Smith Jr. vs Cleverly! It will definitely benefit with the UK fans vs East Coast baby! This is the best thing for Smith Jr. imo.

For a stay busy fight, he wouldnt be bad plus it gives the guy a shot at a top name....a lot of fighters get shots after scoring shocking wins.

This, or anything in the range of Pascal, Barrera, Gonzalez, even Karpency ... Why would you put him in a loss-loss situation with his hype factor going up ?...

I don't want Smith Jr. to be beat just yet! We needs more Americans proper at LHW. Smith Jr., if he plays his cards right, PBC can promote him well. I'm all game for an East Coast American reppin LHW. Good for PBC too, but yeah if he fights Ward that's loss #2.
