Let me dumb it down for you. One fighter has trouble loosing weight (martinez, quillin) then the other guy (jacobs, loma) ko the opponent. But when quillin moves up who by the way admitted to struggling to making weight before the fight now got kod moves up. Jacobs will get his praise for being second best. When roman moves up the whole bunch of morons including you, will say " oh roman was weight drained thats why lomabgot the ko

I don't buy it. He's been making that weight for years without problems.

If he did struggle making weight, it's his fault. You don't suddenly struggle making weight at 33.

Who is he going to fight at 135 on HBO though?

Martinez needs Haymon in his life.

He's not going to fare better at 135.

He's pretty tall for a Super Featherweight. I think he'll be a lot fresher up at 135. He's the same height as the average welterweight (today's standards)

Let's be honest, people use the weight drain excuse whenever it's convenient. You'll never find anyone who consistently feels that Pac drained Cotto, Ward drained Dawson, Mayweather drained Canelo, and Loma drained Martinez. They pick and choose.

I think it's all bullshyt. The fault is on the fighter who "drained", either because he didn't prepare correctly, or shouldn't have signed up for a weight he couldn't comfortably make. Somehow the smarter, better prepared fighter gets blamed.

Martinez is 1 of the biggest overachievers in boxing. He really doesn't do anything well. Doesn't have a good jab, doesn't have big power in either hand, he's flat footed, not athletic and not very skilled but somehow he's been a 3x world champ. Biggest asset has been his heart.

You nailed it. Rios was drained as hell against Abril and looked awful. But Rios admitted it was his own fault for even trying to make 135 again.
