  • Did GGG bring racism to boxing?

    Or was it always there?

You notice guys who all used to support pac, klitschkos etc now support GGG, Kovalev, fury and lomachenko

Why they can't just accept true superiority of sickness in the sport I'll never know but if they want to support those unskilled cavemen that's fine I guess.

But I'm on its got worse since GGG.

    Wilder
    Spence
    Ward
    Crawford

    That's the future right there

no, people trying to accept him as one of theres brings racism to the sport.

when you are half something and half something else both sides try there hardest to pull you apart and claim u as one of them.

he's not russian. he's not korean. he's both. it's time that we accept that.

Ward is interracial. That is why he is neutral to this convo, and he's the SOG.

Racism has always been a part of boxing, it had just subsided for several years. Look up the documentary "unforgiveable Blackness" about the rise and the fall of Jack Johnson. The original "Fight of The Century" between Johnson and Jeffries had many racial overtones and that hasn't changed over the past 100 years.
Yes, racial bias is not as bad as it was back then but it is still very much alive in boxing and always has been.

GGG has given some of the many closet racists a mascot to get behind. He's undefeated, hits hard, and for the most part looks Caucasian. He's like their new white hope. However, if GGG were to lose to a black guy these racists would jump off his bandwagon faster than the survivors of the sinking Titanic. Seeing a strong white guy get embarrassed by a black guy destroys their preconceived notions of racial supremacy. Just like Jeffries when he lost to Johnson or when Schmeling lost to Joe Louis these guys will turn on Golokin once he loses.

Obviously with you asking this question you've only been started watching boxing recently or to young to know better. Racism in boxing goes back to the days when boxing first started.

JoeyC spits on this. Lacy, the brotha, got schooled.

The thing is, this has never been much of a white sport. It's nobodies in particular, which is great. Asians never did anything until Pacquiao came along and established himself as an ATG, now they have a stamp in the sports. But it is predominantly black/Mexican based looking back at history.

Great sport because of all the variety. Everyone can throw their support somewhere

"Racism" means having light skin and I don't think Golovkin was the first boxer with light skin.

                    See what I mean?

This dude sits in his hovel all day living vicariously through "strong black men defeating the white hopes".

Lets face it boxing (in the US at least) is a toilet clogged with "black power" types. They dislike every non-black fighter. Russian/Korean doesn't matter. He's not black.
