  • 17 weight class's shortened down to 5 maybe 6 , would it help boxing in ur opinion?

    Ive thought about this one a lot in the last year and i agree wit takin out all the bs trinkets, but to add to that, i believe they could possibly make less divisions, that should merge a lot of divisions to where theres only 5, maybe 6 divisions in boxing like such

    105-115 minimum,light flyweight, flyweight, super flyweight.

    118-130 bantam,super bantam, feather, super feather.

    135-147 lightweight, light welter, welter.

    154-168 jr middle, middle, super middle.

    175-+++ light heavy, cruiser, heavy.

    It doesnt necessarily have to be set up in that fashion, but to shorten it down to 5 to 6 division means that only the strong would survive, and it would make room for bigger fights to happen . Imagine Corrales-Judah, Manny Pac-Rafael Marquez, Eagle Kyowa-brian viloria, Vargas-Calzaghe(lol), Mayweather-Morrales, oneil bell-klitcko, tarver-liakovich margarito-Castillo etc etc etc, Wit the divisions being shortend u have more marquee names in one division which means more megafights to happen, theyll be some fights that just wont be right, but theyll be some fighters that even tho they weigh much less will be able to rise to the occasion thus bringin out the cream of the crop, only the strong would survive, and wit only 5-6 champions to keep up it boxing would rise back to the spotlight cause the fans that dont really keep up wit it religously would be able to know more about it, and support and watch fights and help boxing get back to its rightful place as the best sport in the world. Now i already believe its the best sport, artform, in the world and keep up with every weightclass religously and follow all fighters so i wouldnt say anything needs to change except takin all those bs belts out, But ratings are droppin and it seems like MMA is takin over.

        Best idea, because the ranks would be full of talent, and non title fights, non pay per view would be blockbusters. Less ducking if everyone in two weights were trying to climb the same rank.

            * Flyweight (Maximum 112 pounds)
            * Bantamweight (118)
            * Featherweight (126)
            * Lightweight (135)
            * Welterweight (147)
            * Middleweight (160)
            * Light Heavyweight (175)
            * Heavyweight (unlimited)

            These 8 worked the best in my opinion.

              Well.

              Enjoy watching guys getting killed in the ring in a fight beteween a guy struggling to make 147, and a guy blowing up to fight at 135.

              There might be a fourty pound difference at fight time.

                Nah...there is a 12-14lb difference in each class. if you have ever done any type of sport, you know 10+ lbs is a huge deal.

                under your rules, Shane Mosley would fight Diego Corales.

                  LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

                  Kofi Jantuah v.s. Erik Morales.

                  The decline of boxing when that happens and Erik is in a stretcher.

                    Can you imagine that...the guy would have so much advantage that it wont be fair, one guy punching someone with 40 pounds punching power over him
