Extactly, middle-weights just suck talent out of the real divsions. This is more important than having one belt, because you basicly cut down like four champions for each junior divsion. Doesnt matter if theres one belt, if fighters are still picking and choosing from 2 or 3 weights to hide in.Last edited by IwatchBoxing; 04-30-2006, 06:49 PM. -
just an idea, like i said i like the way boxing is and dont think it should change a bit, but if this idea would take place theyd have to change it to weigh-ins being on the same day as a fight so that nobody could balloon up over night.Comment

it would be a good idea to have a division every 10kilograms, eg 50-60kg, 60-70kg, etc...........but **** MAN, all of these promoters want more and more paper titles to portray their prodigies as being the best ever....you think they are going to have even less titles now...the answer is NO....
the first and best step to boxing becoming semi-legitimate would be to have ONE ORGANIZATION!!Comment

i think the most important thing right now about weights is to stop people ballooning. People who walk around at 160 should fight at 154, 147. definitely NOT 140 or lower. Weigh ins should take place a day before, AND on the night of the fight. IF the boxer in question is more than 5 pounds over the limit (e.g, middleweight bout and he shows up at 168), then he loses. It causes too much trouble when someone like Gatti pounds someone like Gamacho and causes permanent damage because Gatti weighed 160 in a lower weight fight.Comment

I don't like the eliminination of the "Super", aka, "Jr.", aka, "Light" category and the Minimum weight class because boxing would have been so much poorer had there been no Wilfredo Gomez ruling at SuperBantam, Azumah Nelson and Flash Elorde who appeared to have been at their best at JrLight, Ricardo Lopez at Minimum, Khaosai Galaxy at SuperFly, Humberto Gonzalez at LightFly....I'd much rather that there be only one world sanctioning body with the fighters' ratings so credible as to be near-indisputable and no possibility of any champ ducking any listed contender.Comment

I understand your point, and it's solid, but chances are that's never going to happen. What they should do is bring back 15 rds, if not just for unification, make these champs more responsible for fighting their contenders and if not, strip them, and get rid of all the excess organizations to the most 2 or 3.Originally posted by grayfistI don't like the eliminination of the "Super", aka, "Jr.", aka, "Light" category and the Minimum weight class because boxing would have been so much poorer had there been no Wilfredo Gomez ruling at SuperBantam, Azumah Nelson and Flash Elorde who appeared to have been at their best at JrLight, Ricardo Lopez at Minimum, Khaosai Galaxy at SuperFly, Humberto Gonzalez at LightFly....I'd much rather that there be only one world sanctioning body with the fighters' ratings so credible as to be near-indisputable and no possibility of any champ ducking any listed contender.Comment

I think they should maybe cut out some of the smaller weight classes and possibly move CW up even more to like 210 or 215 but you can't just take away and join the LW and WW divisions that would ruin the record books.Comment
