Even though Linares has ducked Zlaticanin for a second time now and Crolla is the #3 lightweight behind Zlaticanin, the RING has decided to ignore both of these facts simply because Linares is one of the few names Golden Boy actually has left on their roster.

This once again reaffirms the fact that the RING has sunk below TBRB in terms of relevance and the RING is no longer the source for lineal championships in boxing (and honestly, hasn't been that source since 2012). All of their decisions are influenced by their owner, Golden Boy Promotions, one of the biggest leeches in the game today.

smh. They lose more and more credibility every single day. They need to stop with these arbitrary rules. Did they give a reason why they choose to make this for the linear title?

Kinda counter intuitive that a guy that wins a vacant title would immediately be awarded a shot at the ring belt? they also mentioned in the article that Zlaticanin would mostly face the winner...and gave their reason for such a ruling -- I don't have a problem with it.

Edit: Keeping it real Linares vs. Barthelamy should be for the lineal imo even tho hes around #5.

Linares came to the UK before, had an awesome fight of the year contender performance and made loads of cash. Why the heck would he fight on some hill side in montenegro?

Literally no one would be interested in that fight and no one would show up unless it was on an undercard of some sorts. It probably wouldn't even be chief support.

Literally no one would be interested in that fight and no one would show up unless it was on an undercard of some sorts. It probably wouldn't even be chief support.

Since Linares is with Golden Boy and Zlaticanin is with Haymon they should wait before naming a lineal champ. Their reasoning makes no sense because they say the winner will fight Zlaticanin so they should just wait.

People will complain no matter what they do. When they take a hard line stance on their own rules and vacate the title because a fighter didn't meet its requirements like with stevenson idiots complain. And say they should excercise common sense give exceptions. And when they do that now people complain. Linares is the concensus number 1 lightweight. Crolla is number 2 ranked by espn and many other third party rankings. RING has him number 3. I got no problem here with number 1 and number 3 being for the title instead of holding a hard line on it having to be number 1 and number 2 and leaving titles vacant. It's basically a unification fight with the true WBC champ facing the WBA champ. So whats the problem? And that is more worthy of the RING lineal champ then Linares against a paper champ who just won the title by beating a bum for the vacant title. Even WBC already allowed it. The outcry over this is hilarious.

But people need to make up their minds do you want ring to have no gray area and just take hard stances then don't complain when stevenson gets stripped.

Its not ducking when ESPN and many other rankings have crolla higher and he is actually a real world champ. Crolla has more fans and is offering more money and another belt. Unification fight while the same ones here complain constantly that world Champs are not fighting one another. Well we have that right here. Only a few die hard fans of Dejan are upset the vast majority rather seen him face Crolla which is a much bigger deal.
