Most of their athletes are in football/soccer.
Why there's no great Western European boxers?

Calzaghe milked that WBOgus belt until the 2000s and they finally started unifying. It was save to move up once Jones lost a step and started taking losses...same thing goes for Hopkins punk ass and his calculated risks....."60/40 and i'll kick your ass!"....hopkins priced himself out on purpose....who really gives 50% to a fighter you already beat and will be challenging for your title? where they do that at?
Eubank admitted to swerving on Jones basically said it was suicide fighting someone like JonesComment

when has the p4p king ever been european? let alone several p4p entrants being in the top ten.
Europe has a good amount of good fighters but the best are usually from the americas, or asia
example.....its wide open now but it was Mayweather, before him it was Manny when he was retired, before that the best was Roy Jones, before that Whitaker, before that some thought Chavez, before that Ray Leonard, before that Duran, before that Ali, before and so on
P4P is open now
hell welterweight alone has many american contenders. Most the recent hall of famers are from the americas and asia...not europe broComment

i'd say that ireland, germany and italy have solid boxing scenes (although italians seem to prefer the amateur game). it takes decades of sustained investment and interest to build a boxing tradition though and i guess most countries have just never made an effort to be players. from my limited knowledge, france and spain for example seem more interested in kickboxing than pure boxing, so that splits the talent poolComment

Western Europe got destroyed by the World Wars, most of the good healthy men with good genetics all died in the World Wars so we were mostly left with the men who were unable to fight that carried on our genes.
That's one reason why and it's a reason people forget. The blacks in USA had the absolutely opposite happen to them, their best and strongest were all bred with each other and not killed off.
If we did a similar breeding program now with White Westerners you'd see a lot more champions from them. For now though lets see:
Klitschko(s), Calzaghe, Ken Buchanan, Marcel Cerdan, Benny Lynch, Jimmy McLarnin, Max Schmelling, Bob Fitzsimmons and a lot more I could name.Comment

Let's not forget the USSR's extensive tradition in amateur boxing, as one of the powerhouses in amateur boxing for decades.
A ton of great fighters, ex-soviet countries like Ukraine, and even foreign countries like Cuba have benefited greatly from the soviet experience and technical prowess in amateur boxing.
Cubans weren't jack **** in amateur in boxing, until the USSR send soviet trainers there, to teach them how to fight properly, as part of the close relationship both countries had during the cold war era.
It's thanks to USSR, that Cuba is the amateur powerhouse it is currently. If the iron curtain had fell sooner and russians had been allowed to compete professionally since, let's say, the 50's or 60's, you can bet many of the legendary boxing champions from murica would be footnotes in history instead of legends.
¿For how long the HW championship of the world was nothing but the american championship in disguise? muricans conned the world for decades
just like they currently do calling the murican baseball championship ¨the World Series¨
Interesting. Any link or videos you have regarding the USSR's boxing history and the Cuban connection? If you could be bothered you should create a thread for this as many people, including myself, aren't very familiar with the history. Would love to learn how the amateur boxing programs got started over there.Comment

Nah bruv, tbh, it's blasphemous to call Schmeling a ****. Dude was against it. That's why many, even after WWII, didn't dare to publicize and write anything positive a German. American ***s have still kept the status quo uo till today for Anti-German general entertainment. The ******* American ***s that dont care about it or were not affected by Holocaust parents drive beemers and cedes no problem...Comment
