Both networks will suffer when they compete head to head. There are only so many boxing fans to go around. Split them up and you cut your own viewership.

Time for Arum and Haymon to kiss and make up. Boxing fans deserve it.

Both networks have gone head to head many times this year and Showtime's ratings did not receive any big jump or spike. They did the standard lousy ratings they been doing all year. This is more about Loma not having the draw power to headline his own show and giving HBO by far it's worst ratings of the year. He needs to be on an undercard or have a bigger draw in the ring with him. And Arum had the nerve to say after the fight HBO needs to pay Loma more or he's going to PPV. LMAO

Loma paid more then double what Vargas/Salido combined paid yet those guys got way more ratings and drew more to the arena. Fat chance trying to make an argument that Loma is not grossly overpaid and no shot he gets a pay increase unless it comes out of Arum's pockets and he takes the loss.

u get on your knees and apologize to everyone here....everyone who asked for even money to see walters vs lomo..u apologize to us all you son of b1tch..ok that was a bit harsh, but i just mean i boxing fan joke, but seriously man say you are sorry you man just got exposed a good fighter that is not popular just like walters

walter did a better average vs marriage. walters was off 8 months prior to the fight..it was on a pr holiday just like lomo's fight..and walters was not fighting a PRincan.

now can we please just admit it finally walters is a threat and so is lomo..neither man is neither man's A side..

i know u will birng up lomo's title now, but that was the plan..price yourself out, try to prove you are a draw, then have everyone turn on walters bc he not a champ and under promoted by bob.

this is total justification for you to come out as a fan of boxing and not just a fan of lomo
You piece of ****ing ****. If you're going to try to offend someone try to offend me.
I never said Loma was a draw, so I don't feel bad. And like I said, I never crap on fighters for doing bad numbers, I don't even get into that. So I don't feel bad or like a hypocrite.
Guess what though? Loma still had more fans than Walters did when he was the Main Event. Loma also didn't have people leaving in the middle of his fight. And Loma is supposed to be the boring one.
Loma deserved more money than Walters back then and even more now. He accepted Walters' date, weight, had to probably give up his title for the fight the fans wanted, has a better contract than Walters. He was sacrificing more and you people still wanted Walters to get more of the money. You can't have everything!
Plus, Loma was the one that was supposed to be terrified of Walters right? Walters was going to destroy Loma. Isn't that what everyone was saying?
Walters should let poor Loma have more of the money and whoop him and retire him for payback. I mean everyone was so sure Walters would do it, so he should have just done it.
Now Loma has a belt, he made a lot new fans this past weekend I'm sure, HBO and Arum are getting behind him now and they will start to promote him, something they really weren't doing before.
I stand by what I said. Loma is not a draw but he's doing better than Walters. And he's trying to perform and improve for the audience. He scored KO that could be the KO of the year.
And I never said Walters wasn't a threat, idiot.

Check this out: Walters could have made 550K and now he's going to make $0. Had he fought and defeat Loma it would have been big for him. Now, however, who knows when he's coming back.
Sounds like a smart business move.

The entire sport is struggling bad right now.

All the numbers are down, yet these promoters and managers refuse to change.

It's hard to be a boxing fan these days, the Only fight I was really hyped about got canceled, the rest are all show case fights.

                WTF is the point?

Dude you are here arguing paychecks and I am talking ratings. Both ratings were low. They basically shared a million viewers. Ratings will always take a hit in these situations. How much Loma makes might be important to you, but I don't care LOL

HBO usually does 1 mil viewers alone for HBO Championship Fights and around 800k viewers for the Boxing After Dark fights. The last time BAD went head to head with Showtime boxing was a couple months back and HBO did 740k viewers. HBO doing bad ratings this time out had more to do with Loma then it did with going head to head with Showtime. We have enough historical evidence to prove this point. And Showtime didn't have some big spike in ratings to show that all the viewers for HBO went over to Showtime. Showtime did their avg this year and HBO fell off a cliff. This says a lot more about Loma then it does HBO going head to head with another boxing card which we have seen all year long yet ONLY this fight produced such terrible results.

                      Uhhhhh...they didn't.

Showtime's peak audience was larger than HBO's peak audience...even though HBO has like 8M more subscribers than Showtime.
