What's typical behaviour? Thurman barely clinched Porter and he doesn't clinch in fights at all in general. He uses his feet when opponents are trying get inside him, he can't fight in the pocket.

Bundu is a quality fighter btw.

I'll be honest, before seeing this video, I had this down as a 50-50 fight, in fact I was probably leaning slightly towards Shawn to edge out a close decision, but now I'm leaning more towards Thurman. I know it's only sparring and you shouldn't pay too much attention to it, but with 20 ounce gloves and headgear, also Thurman not being in shape, I would expect Porter to get the better of him...

Agreed. It might come down to what judges prefer in terms of aggression or a more paced strategic method.

Nice! Yep, Kenny's a liar. Thurman was picking him off and outboxing him. Btw, is that Khan I'm hearing or is it just me?

                "All He Did Was Run"

                Oh reallllllyyy Kenny Porter.

Although I guess you always do gotta move back against Shawn cuz he got depth perception issues or whatever & gets so close he smothers his own punches & to hit him you gotta create space.

So sure Kenny if you mean Shawn was always moving forward (while getting hit more often than he was hitting) while Keith was moving back creating space to be able to punch...sure you right lol.

Yea this is pretty much my take, except I was leaning more Thurman's way, but after seeing this sparring (& like you I hate to take too much away from sparring in particular sparring from 4 years ago) I'm much more confident in Thurman & idk if its as 50/50 as I was thinking.

Thurman was making Porter miss & making him pay A LOT in this sparring (a trick to "scoring" sparring, whoever adjusts their headgear less won the round & Porter was f#cking with his headgear a lot after Thurman was making him pay) & I feel like Thurman's game has advanced nicely over the last 4 years while Porter has largely just been a tough sob coming forward pushing the pace probably his whole career (amateur & pro) & hasn't moved his game forward as much. So 2016 Thurman is even more advanced & with a stronger ring IQ & has probably had a higher % increase in overall improvement than 2016 Porter has had from their 2012 selves.

I do still see an opening for Porter to win cuz I believe Porter is on energizer bunny batteries & if Thurman has some slow, bad or close early rounds, for whatever reason, I suspect Porter will be at his best in the later rounds. If the fight happens to be in the balance in the later rounds I love Porter's chances of coming out on top as I think Thurman will be operating at a high workrate in the first half, 2/3's of the fight to match Porter's pace while trying to build up a solid lead & I could see him slowing down & dropping later rounds &/or taking them off as we've seen him do before.

                    You make some good points.

I agree that Thurman has improved more, he's said in numerous interviews how he didn't have a jab in the amateurs and was a Maidana-esque fighter, how he's become a more intelligent boxer etc, even Andrade who fought Thurman 4 times in the amateurs said recently how Thurman's changed a lot. So the Thurman in that sparring footage is much improved since then.

I still think it's a very close fight though.

Porter is shi.t...you root for him because he lost to Brook, and Thurman is threat to Kell.

                      Porter is going to sleep.
