You know, like the days when they worked with Haymon?

Or how Showtime does it now with Haymon. Destroying your budget for some half assed ratings.

Yeah, hbo is moving away from that.
What a causal like you doesn't get is bum fights hurt boxing.

But in theory you could have Crawford, Loma, Ramirez & Verdejo being a quadruple threat that appeals to many demos on a PPV together. Split up about $10M among those guys & their opponents. Think about ~500k PPV buys = break even to a small profit..
Im sure its something like very lil gains in ppv buys for a stack card as compared to just having the headliner with crappy card so thats why they dont do it as often.

Just stop with the nonsense already.
I see you ignored most of the points I made & somehow decided to come at some point I didn't make.

I never said TR's fights weren't HBO PPV's so no clue wtf you are talking about. I'm merely saying HBO is throwing TR guys into a situation where few will see some of their biggest names + its showing HBO has no budget to even pay Loma his under 1M paydays once more this year.

I wonder if the HBO budget tightening was just for this year, while they wait out the PBC experiment to see how it turns out?

Yea thats fair & I think probably correct. The UFC gots a PPV machine monthly churning out product & if you look a lil into their cards the strongest cards rarely got epic numbers. Its the big name main fight, headline heavy cards that have some of their biggest numbers.

I suppose this is a case of wanting to believe people would buy a more solid overall product more than thats actually the case. I think most people who are potential customers of a boxing PPV only know so many names & those few names are the names that make the decision to buy or not buy a PPV.

I've seen estimates of the falling HBO budget since the 90's, early 00's done by others online going back to when they had ~100M+ per year. Their bankroll has gradually gone down over the last 10-15 years. This has lil to nothing to do with PBC. Those that suggest otherwise aren't paying attention or have a short term memory.

I honestly don't understand what all the fuss is about.

Fighters fight for money, and they try to earn maximum they can.

But who's to say there's some objective amount of money required for them to fight?

What other options does Walters have? Go fight in China on a Chinese TV Channel in a fight fans will never ever see?

It's not as if there's some alternative universe all these money hungry fighters can go when they are not paid enough.

If Arum thinks his fighters will make more being on PPVs, that's what he should do.

I am hoping the days when Danny Garcia could fill Barclays centre fighting Rod Salka are gone. Boxing fans are becoming more literate and they can pay for a good product, but won't open up their wallets for mismatches.

Instead of complaining about HBO budgets Arum should move his fights to web only PPVs and sell them worldwide for like 10 bucks a show. When GGG was fighting Lemieux I wanted to donate some money toward this PPV, LOL. It sucks for international fans that they cannot influence the sport as much as US viewers.

I miss the old days when we had big fights on Showtime and HBO. Molina/Provodnikov is really more like an old school Friday Night Fights Main Event. Crawford/Postol and Walters/Lomachenko need to be on regular TV.

That may be but I don't recall ever seeing HBO be so tight with their wallet as they have been this year.

Lomachenko moves without running, uses defense without staying in a all night shell, counters guys with combos, uses a jab, closes the show now hopefully more, this is a fighter a fan should embrace has it all a true artist . Lack of English will hurt but Chavez did it
