Comments Thread For: Felix Verdejo Aims To Showcase His Improvements, Raise Stock

New York, NY - The bulk of the ever flaming torch of Puerto Rican boxing has been bestowed in young Felix Verdejo. The torch was in Miguel Cotto's hands and before that on the shoulders of Felix Tito' Trinidad. All signs have pointed to Verdejo to follow in that line.

YAWN, you suck. You look average against D level fighters and have the personality of a rock to top it off. This kid has quit written all over his face as soon as he faces a C level fighter with power, he will be broken.

    And I'm Puerto Rican btw.

You raise your stock by raising your level of competition. Knocking out a 35 year old journeyman should be expected. This does nothing to raise your stock.

Is it me or has he not progressed at all? He's having a difficult time transitioning from the amateurs to the pros. If anything he's regressing.

He looks about right for his level of experience.

He doesn't even look as good as Juanma at similar stage. That's why I respect Trinidad and Cotto so much. They had the pressure of a whole island on their back and they performed. This dude is seeing a sports psychologist. I expect him to get a KO against a 35 year old journeyman. Anything less is a step back or he's just not as good as the hype

Verdejo is still young and developing however he needs to show improvement in every aspect of his skill. I'm not sure if Bob Arum can keep selling this guy to HBO if he doesn't show out tonight.

Also I wouldn't be surprised if Saul Rodriguez gets an opportunity soon on HBO because he's improving more by fight in my opinion than Verdejo.

I've said that same thing as well. He seems to be regressing. He has a difficult time creating offense. He only looks for explosive counterpunching; that's why he's always getting awesome looking KO's, but that won't work against better opponents.
I'm not usually one to say fighters should switch trainers, but Verdejo may want to try it or at least bring in someone else to help. He's still young enough to learn new tricks easier.

is anybody even following this cowards career anymore? he was prospect of the year in 2014 wtf happened to this clown, He got scared after he seen how easy Saul Rodriquez dismantled Najera in 1 round who was previously verdejo toughest fight in his career to-date.
