He doesn't look very good or particularly talented to me then again you don't really need much at HW these days to have decent success there. I think its more AJ fans wishful thinking than anything else & I'm not sure why he landed a decent shot when AJ extended himself and didn't really do anything else but get battered from pillar to post. It happens especially at HW, no point in overrating the guy.
I see the Chisora comparison but he reminds me more of a big Curtis Stevens - Same limitations anyway.
If he just ironed out that right hand it could make a world of difference. Not sure if its his shoulder injury causing him to throw it in that odd manner or what but if he straightened it out it could help his cause.
Never really actually seen anybody throw a straight right in that manner before. Starts off as a straight & almost ends up like he is trying to swat a fly.
He reminds me of Chris Arreola back when Arreola was being touted as a promising guy. Same mediocre skills, same lack of dedication to physical conditioning, same sort of level of competition. I suspect he'll always knock over lower level guys with ease but come up short whenever forced to fight past a certain level. It's still early days of course, but I don't hold too much hope this guy's going to make anything of himself in the division.
Hard to tell when his best performance was a knockout loss.
This.
I think Whyte's resume is still extremely poor W-wise & his biggest accomplishment is getting KO'd by Joshua in a less dominate way than Joshua has previously KO'd guys basically lol. Thats hardly anything to get excited about on the Whyte side of things. I've been somewhat amused by Joshua's hype being so big that now Whyte has okay hype himself off of a mildly entertaining L.
And thats not to say that Whyte can't do some **** in the HW division, I'm just saying he's still more of an unknown quality guy between beating up whatever opponents & losing his biggest fight. I wanna see him vs Chisora or even Price or other lower level notables & even some fringe-ish like guys to see what he can do. Than I think it'll be much more possible to judge him or make some assumptions about his ceilings that will feel more accurate than cats saying "he's for sure a future title holder with Joshua" & **** like that that makes little sense based on what Whyte's wins have shown.
Good enough for Hughie Fury to duck, but we don't really know beyond that. His only showing at a decent level was a brutal banjoing (albeit in a spirited effort) against Joshua.
I think he'll peak out around Euro/fringe contender level.
