We had a lot of sparring sessions - we trained at the same gym until the gym shut down, at which point we both went to different gyms in the same city but continued to spar each other relatively often in inter gym sessions. Despite his sparring dominance, we fought each other 4 times in the amateurs and I won each and every one of them relatively easily. None of them were particularly competitive. I won 3 unanimous decisions and got one RSC. It's worth noting that both of us were very high level amateurs during each of the fights. When we had our first I'd had about 40 fights and he'd had about 65 and in our most recent contest (which will be our last since I'm retiring) I'd had about 80 fights so this isn't a matter of inexperience. The point is that sparring means ****. Eubank jr might be what you call a gym fighter if this story is even true, which I doubt it because to be quite frank Degale, as much as I hate him, is much better than Eubank jr.

You can talk about how Degale has no power, but the fact is that Eubank jr got beaten by a man who also has no power and is much smaller than Degale, a man who threw nothing but jabs. It was a close fight, but I don't care how much Eubank has improved, if you struggle massively with a guy throwing nothing but jabs you will never be a world class fighter as you don't have the talent. Eubank jr is okay and in fact better than I thought he'd become, but he will be fringe world class at best and is over hyped because of who his father is. To add to all this, he and his father are incredibly annoying people who try to grab every piece of publicity they can.

If he dominated you every single time you sparred, and yet the actual fights were not even competitive..... then it sounds like you may need to up your training intensity a little.

Top fighters do not continually under-perform when training/sparring.

This sounds like a one-off, so it could come down to anything...... Degale could have been sick, Eubank could have been ready-to-go and yet Degale only just hit camp..... Degale may have been trying to work on something, and Chris went hard out trying to prove something else..... maybe Degale does struggle a little to match that intensity in camp.

I think Redd Foxx might have nailed it !

Eubank's a totally different fighter now than he was then.

          I seriously doubt that.

This is a good fight if it's made. Has to happen.

I don't believe him. He is just another bragging English fighter in the Khan tradition with not much in the way of accomplishments to back up his bragging. DeGale is a world champion and Eubanks isn't. Eubanks is old enough and has been fighting long enough to win a world title if he is as good as he and his father say he is. He also claims he will fight and defeat GGG. I don't think so.

I thought this was well known. This happened like years ago but with different circumstances to it, yes he was 'Kicked out' by Degale trainer but it wasn't because he was beating up james.

The version I recall and my memory sucks & it was years back I heard it so might have it totally wrong but I seemingly recall a story of how he was kicked out because he was acting an arrogant douche. James was putting in work and Eubank Jr was distracting everyone by flipping the ropes and acting like an idiot in general.

Vaguely recall J'Leon Love or someone at the Mayweather boxing club saying very similar too.

On this weeks episode of BellEnders.

Press conference. Convened for the sole purpose of allowing the Eubanks to hear themselves talk.

                  Biggest bore in British boxing

Gazing past his audience into the middle distance, left eybrow slightly raised, chin held up and at an angle.

                  "The story is . . . I went in there and schooled him. Beat . . . Him . . . Up. He wasn't happy about it."

Father sits over his shoulder adorned in sleeveless shirt, waist coat, jodhpurs and riding boots. An old monocle tucked away in his breast pocket he holds his chin between thumb and forefinger. He pouts and gives the impression that he's deep in thought. Pausing for dramatic effect he then gives his blessing to the comment with a controlled nod of agreement.

Second biggest bore in British boxing

Dressed in a tight black t-shirt. Skin glistening from his self pruning exfoliating regime. False hairline so pristine that you would think it came with its own groundsman. 'Chunky', with the perpetual expression of a teenager fresh from making a joke that only he found funny.

                  "He came down, he sparred me, I battered HIM! Heeeee's . . . a d*ckhed!"

According to Eubank Junior he is the greatest sparring fighter of all time...

He caught Froch a few times when they sparred as well - in a fight Froch would destroy him, and Degale would take him to school.
