    Royal waste of time.

This just means that had Brook fought the winner of the Bundu/Gavin fight, instead of the loser, and won, this discussion would not have existed.

What a ****** way for Bundu to go through all that crap just to have a chance at Brook.

Spence vs Peterson would have been the more meaningful fight. Either winner would be an intriguing fight for Brook.

Following the bout, Spence immediately entered negotiations with #3 ranked contender Konstantin Ponomarev, as ordered by the IBF.

There were varying takes on the progress of such talks. Some insiders suggested Ponomrev – who one week prior to Spence’s win over Algieri scored a career-best victory of his own in outpointing Brad Solomon in a matchup of unbeaten welterweights – was going to move in a different direction. Others insisted a deal was reached behind closed doors and that the fight would be staged this summer, the start of a newly formed pact between Top Rank (Ponomarev’s promoter) and Al Haymon, who advises Spence
Interesting. Wonder who supplied that information. Top Rank?

Spence-Ponomorev would've been a good fight, but without a deal, I can see Top Rank taking him the WBO route.

From what I've seen of Spence, not the fastest, but one of the most powerful punchers, especially to the body, and a very 'complete' looking fighter. Could well be the new welterweight king. Him or Thurman. I would pick Spence over Pacquaio now that's for sure.

The IBF is a useless organization - I'd like to say its only redeeming feature is that it strictly enforces mandatories but what is the point of that when at many weights there are few genuine fighters listed in the top 10?
Add to that that they screwed Fury over by immediately stripping him. The useless mandos that Brook has faced. Recently Wade for Golovkin.
Crap organization that should disappear up its own a5s.

The Russian dude didn't want it and this leads to a fight with the Brook/Vargas winner. No complaints on my end. Unless the winner of Brook/Vargas drops the IBF belt.

I don't think it's much of a fight, but that's not Bundu or Spence's fault. There are several guys ranked above Bundu, but if they won't/can't take the fight..then it is what it is.

I can't believe people are complaining about this fight. The winner (most likely Spence) faces the winner of Vargas vs. Brook. This is actually a meaningful fight because it leads to a better fight. How meaningful was Wade vs. GGG? That fight didn't lead to anything. But everybody was ok with it because it was his mandatory. Ya'll gotta stop with the double standards. The Russian dude declined so Spence has to get this fight out of the way in order to fight the winner of a unification bout. I don't see Brook or Vargas being the type to drop the belt to avoid Spence. If Spence wins and beats the winner of Brook vs. Vargas we could see an undisputed welterweight champion next year. Garcia-Berto winner is fighting the winner of Thurman-Porter. Spence will get the winner from Berto/Garcia/Porter/Thurman. At least this IBF mandatory actually leads to bigger fights.

The Russian ducked...they should be mad at him....just like they should be mad at Povetkin instead of Wilder.
