Neither Wlad's Era or this new one (if you can even call it that, since the old champ hasn't retired yet and is fighting Fury again) were or are golden, they're both average, but at least with Wlad we had clarity, instead of what is happening today.

And what is happening? Nothing, the division is the same as it used to be, top guys are fighting guys that have no chance of beating them, the only difference is that the current champ says a lot of controversial stuff. In the ring however, he's as boring as Wlad was but without fight changing power.

Joshua/Whyte and Wilder/Szpilka being exciting speaks more about Joshua's and Wilder's fighting abilities rather than the quality of the division. Besides, during Wlad's reign we had some fun fights too, like Povetkin/Huck, Wlad/Pulev or Adamek/Arreola.

Just because the top guys go life and death with mediocre, overmatched opposition it doesn't mean the division is good. Quite the opposite, actually.

Wlad slaughtered his lambs with ease, leaving no room to question who the better guy in the match up is. The current belt holders don't do that.
You were mocking Wilder for fighting an "arreola level" fighter. Ehm, who's fault is that?

I don't think this new era is average at all. You have top fighters: Fury, Povetkin, Wilder, Joshua, Ortiz etc all willing to fight each other. You have a strong middle pool: Pulev, Haye, Jennings, Takam, Breazele, Stiverne, Martin etc.

And you have solid up and coming talent: Parker, Fury, BB Miller, Dillian Whyte so on and so forth.

Yeah I say said, Wlad provided so much clarity that people would rather watch the welterweight division. Thanks Wlad.

These guys are fun to watch, which is more than you can say for Wladimir Klitschko. People are actually excited to see Joshua or Wilder or Fury fight. They like them and they tune in every time. they make worldwide news.

Fury is a lot more entertaining than Wlad. He doesn't clinch every other second, which alone makes him 100 x more watchable. Their last fight might have been boring, but thank Wlad for that. He was clinching again. Just didn't work out for him that time.

Slaughtered his lambs Let me tell you something, Joshua slaughtered his lamb with ease. Knocked out a champion in 2 rounds like he was supposed to.

Can you tell me how Wlad won his IBF belt? Or his WBO belt? or his WBA belt? Consecutively some of the worst heavyweight fights ever. Ibragimov, Haye etc. And he's the common denominator.

Even when he fought Mormeck etc, there was definitely was a lamb to be slaughtered that day. What did he do? Came out and leaned and clinched.

Absolute embarrassment to the heavyweight throne and that's why everyone are happy his days are firmly over.

Fury brings a massive jolt of unpredictability to the division, and that's what's been sorely missing for a long while. You acknowledge yourself that Fury is very beatable, and could very well lose the rematch. How often have we truly felt the same way about Wlad? That's to his credit, that he was so dominant that few fans ever really entertained hopes of an opponent ever toppling him from his throne, but it was boring man, so boring.

Fury has that vulnerability and craziness that makes every fight of his feel like a genuine fifty fifty affair. And fighters aren't afraid to fight him, since so many still see him as an east touch. That's opened up the division massively.
So because Fury has a glass jaw he's more exciting right ? I guess that's why they matched him up against Chisora as many times as they could before a title shot, as well as the likes of Cunningham and Johnson. Lol.
