    Ali-Foreman: The Gloves

Which kind of gloves did Ali and Foreman use in their fight? 6oz gloves? I think the gloves were thinner than modern gloves. Foreman didn't even get knocked down in the modern era, but Ali managed to knock him out.

All I know is that Ali and Foreman used black leather horse hair Everlast gloves, produced by the Bronx plant (which was closed in Dec 2003)...

Something funny: "In the Thrilla in Manila' it was so hot in that indoor arena the horsehair in Ali's and Frazier's gloves broke down. By the late rounds, the gloves were just pieces of leather flopping around. It was almost like fighting with bare knuckles.''

Glove size was 8oz. Everlast in black. Standard size at that time.

8 oz. gloves which is what they should be today. And the fighters below 154 should be wearing 6 oz. gloves.
