Chavez was seen as past it even before the fight, hence being a 2 to 1 underdog. Floyd was still seen as sharp and went it as an favorite.
Not everyone ages the same. Bowe was shot by his late twenties, Klitschko fought at a high level into his 40s. You can't just compare two guys bc they are old.Last edited by vman075; 06-08-2016, 07:40 PM.

I was a big fan of Chavez but never liked the way he handled himself after his loss to Oscar. Was a bitter sore loser making excuses about the cut, refusing to give Oscar credit and then creating a civil war among Mexicans and Mexican Americans mocking Oscar saying because he was born in US he was somehow not a real Mexican. He talked his way into a rematch by saying and doing some really nasty things. Got under Oscar's skin more then any opponent other then Vargas (who was also a Mexican American yet Chavez was still so bitter he backed him against Oscar).
There was real bad blood going into that rematch and in the first fight Oscar came in to outbox Chavez and was very respectful of him. In the rematch he came in to beat Chavez to a pulp and embarrass him for what he said. And with no cut excuse this time Chavez face still fell apart again from Oscar's punches and he quit. Oscar not only beat he knocked out the Roided up Chavez surrogate Fernando Vargas. I look at Oscar as 3-0 against Chavez and only sad that Oscar retired too early that he couldn't go 4-0 by beating his son too LMAO Payback for the de****able low class shots at Oscar and Mexican Americans. Please man he's barely 1-0, a 4 round fight and a 8 round fight.
seriously though I remember being disappointed with the way Chavez handled the loss immediately afterward. The two fights were so comprehensive that there was nothing really left to say, even a young Chavez was going to struggle against Oscar. He was fast as hell

Originally posted by bigdunny1 View PostChavez was going to struggle no matter when he faced oscar because he was just too damn small for oscar. Oscar went on to win titles at frigging Jr middleweight and even middleweight. Chavez won titles up to Jr welterweight. So he was NEVER going to hurt Oscar who had an iron chin that bigger fighters and bigger punchers such as Trinidad, Vargas, Quartey, Mosley, Mayorga couldn't dent. So there is no version of Chavez that was going to ko Oscar. And he damn sure wasn't going to outbox him. In 2 fights Chavez won 1 single round that's it. Judges had it 3-0 the first fight and 7-in the second before the stoppages. Now a prime Chavez puts up a better fight and likely doesn't see his face fall apart like we saw in both fights but because the size difference he was doomed.
he struggled with boxers in his prime like Whitaker and Taylor. Oscar either stops him late or boxes his ears off. It was just a terrible size and style match up for smaller chavez.
