I remember hearing about the soft skin above his eye, but not exactly when it was...seemed to be in the days right before the fight. I remember being worried but i was like 15 so I thought it wouldn't matter because it was Chavez. He'll land a couple of body shots and Oscar will be pissing blood for weeks I remember thinking. Naive as hell

Either way... Oscar was too freaking fast for him on that night. The 2nd fight he gave a better showing but it was clear he was still dealing with a great talent. He was landing some good body shots though and there were some moments where I got excited that he was in the fight

Too bad we didn't get more of both fights, whatever success Chavez was hoping to have would have had to come to fruition later on and it never got to those rounds. I'm grateful they at least they got in the ring together. Dream matchup that would seem impossible to make right now
