Bread said it right...GGG & his promoters started negotiations with Ward at 50/50 split at 164 as a sign of respect to how good he is. I never thought of it that way. But i've not watched as much boxing as Bread. Although I'll still maintain that Ward couldnt make 168 at the time anyway, let alone 164.

Love J-rock...even though i know he'll eventually outgrow his division. He needs more shine.Someone need to ask Bread if he's gonna do the Red & Bread podcast more often.
That **** is gold every time they get together, but they only did like 4 of them. Get into some deep ass subjects on there like Julian Williams saying he don't ever want a fight stopped, cuz if thats how he's supposed to go out, thats how he's supposed to go out. I got great respect for that ****. Its kinda f#cked, but beautiful at the same time if that makes any sense.Comment

Strong argument. As a career move, GGG could have gone after Ward or after Canelo/Cotto...they chose Canelo/Cotto. Nothing wrong with that since one was a MW champ, & the other was fighting within the MW weight limits...as opposed to someone who is a full weight class above, & the serious top dawg at 168. The better career move was to pursue the bigger money. That's not to say that GGG didn't want that fight...& he probably still wants that fight.K2 did get a contract with Canelo after he beat Cotto. They can't sue him for breaching it because he relinquished the title.
Whether you call the guarantee Golovkin got from the WBC a contract or not is irrelevant. The fact is he had that guarantee, plus a step aside agreement with Cotto, and he expected to fight the winner of Cotto/Canelo in spring/summer of 2016, which was the same time Roc wanted him to agree to fight Ward.
The offer Roc sent him was a farce. Loeffler would have been crazy to even think about agreeing to it. If he had done, Golovkin would not be the WBC MW champion now and he would still be waiting for his "mega fight" (ROFL!) with Ward.
And don't try telling me that Ward wouldn't have needed tune-ups for Golovkin, that he would have offered to fight him straight away, if GGG hadn't already signed for Lemieux.
I remember when Ward started bragging about GGG turning down an offer to fight, he was saying that he sent the offer months before Golovkin had signed with Lemieux. His lawyer even threatened to sue Sanchez when Abel called him a liar over that.
But now the story has changed. Andre didn't need a tune-up for li'l g, nah, he only included interim fights in his offer so that GGG would be able to fight Lemieux first, a fight that, at the time, Ward claimed to know nothing about!Comment

Actually Manny did not demand a CW with Oscar. It was all Oscars doing. In fact he fought at a lower weight against Steve Forbes between the manny and Floyd fight. That's piss poor planning on their (K2) part! Whoever couldn't see it coming has a very limited knowledge of boxing history! Oscar demanded a CW for Hopkins. Mayweather demanded a CW for Canelo. Manny demanded a CW for Oscar. Rid**** Bowe threw the belt in the trash. Tyson Fury ust got stripped. Cotto vacated the belt! The history is long on fighters using leverage to force concesions for a fight that they KNOW that they are the A-side! This didn't just start with Floyd Mayweather! Oscar is a product of Arum! He doesn't ask himself "What would Jesus do?" He asks "What would Arum do?"
If I remember correctly, his intention was to rematch Floyd at 147, but when Floyd didn't want to do the rematch, Oscar went after Manny.Comment

Fight Lara at 160 after becoming undisputed. That will go a long way at convincing the public on how good a champion GGG is. I think he'll be a superstar by then anyway if he become undisputed. But, there you go...a fighter who could lend credit to GGG's resume without the Canelo or Ward fight. Of course, I would prefer he fight em all. Fight em all!...leave no stone unturned.Comment

Correct, that guy is usually full of ****. Misguided post there, the only concession team Canelo was asking for was for Ggg to leave them aloneActually Manny did not demand a CW with Oscar. I don't expect anything better from him. He is smarter and better at hiding his bias than most of the other American pundits, but he can't hide it completely.
Eg, he gives Golovkin respect and says he doesn't blame him for wanting a catchweight for Ward, because Ward is better than Froch and Chavez. But he ignores the real reason behind it ... Froch and Chavez were genuine cash cows. Ward has fewer fans than Golovkin but wanted 50% of the purse. K2 wanted him to concede something to GGG in return.
Nah, bread admitted that Golovkin ducked Ward because he keeps it real.
FYI, we have looooong given up waiting for you to keep it real.Comment

You have to say that Ward is great if you want to be involved in boxing in the States.
Like politicians in the UK have to swear allegiance to the Queen before they can sit in parliament, even if they are anti-monarchists and believe the whole institution is a pile of elitist bullshit.
Nah, that's bull****.
You have to admit that Ward is great if you..... understand boxing.
But, you guys are free to do whatever you wish.Comment

Bread said, " I agree with Ward..... but I don't hate GGG because of it..... he just wasn't ready to move to 168 and fight Andre Ward ".
Bread kept it real..... even though Team Bull**** were too dishonest to admit it, and even though his fans were too ****** to realize.Comment

He clearly wanted nothing to do with Andre Ward, you tool.Comment
