Without entering into a debate about your opinions on how the fight would go and ignoring the fact that no less than 3 160lb titles would have been on the line, surely the point of a catchweight is that it should be a middle ground - usually so that 2 fighters from different divisions can meet without either having a significant size advantage. In this context even if one accepts that Canelo is essentially a JMW who can't quite make the cut, the 'middle ground' would be about 157-8.

Quite aside from which the point is moot. The information we have seems to indicate that there was no offer for 155 or any other weight from GBP.

I wasn't actually debating that because it was clear what you think. What I was querying was your assertion that 155 made 'perfect sense' and was interested to get your opinion on the broader question of how catchweights should be used.

Well then some boxing personalities don't know how to score a fight because that is ridiculous. Khan didn't expose a damn thing about Alvarez. Even when he had success in the first 3 rounds, what exactly did he show that others had not shown before?

To a large degree he is right. There are no middle weights and few junior middleweights with Khan's hand speed. So essentially it was Khan's ability to hit and move for 4 rounds that gave him success. Alvarez chose to be patient and let the KO come to him instead of chasing it and risking gassing himself out.

Also, why do folks keep calling Khan the smaller man. He had height and reach advantages and bulked up into the 160s for the fight. Weighing more doesn't necessarily make you bigger.

He barely had the height and reach advantage really did he? and he was the smaller guy because Canelo's frame is just naturally bigger. His neck, legs, arms were all bigger. Khan just gives the illusion he's bigger than he is because he has a wide back, but he doesn't have the mass Canelo had, he looked bloated at the weight.
