  • Comments Thread For: Golovkin's Coach Rejects Idea of Khan Exposing Canelo's Flaws

Abel Sanchez, trainer of WBC/WBA/IBF/IBO middleweight champion Gennady 'GGG' Golovkin (35-0, 32KOs), rejects the idea that Amir Khan exposed the flaws of Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez (47-1-1, 33KOs) in last month's fight at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

I don't see how having nothing to fear explains/excuses Canelo losing five rounds to a welterweight. If anything losing 5 rounds to a guy you don't fear makes you look worst.

He's right , the popular opinion was Khan would start fast have a few decent rounds and then get ****** out and it went according to the script.Fast hands on the move, second he stopped moving same old Khan ....****...not much to take from that.

He's wrong--It showed Canelo is susceptible to fast combination punching, particularly the straight right followed by a double jab.

If Canelo didn't land that bomb, who knows how long it would have taken to set another one up?

Canelo's flaw is that he can't stand when he finds oppurtunity to fight some 140 guy.

All Respect. My little take on nat is Canelo can afford to give up the first few rounds to a smaller, quicker man. Khan's a front-runner, he's gonna win those anyway. Furthermore; Canelo can be almost recklessly aggressive(sometimes sloppy and out of position) with this man because he doesn't fear Kahn's power. He Knows He'll Get Him. R.I.P ALI

To a large degree he is right. There are no middle weights and few junior middleweights with Khan's hand speed. So essentially it was Khan's ability to hit and move for 4 rounds that gave him success. Alvarez chose to be patient and let the KO come to him instead of chasing it and risking gassing himself out.

Also, why do folks keep calling Khan the smaller man. He had height and reach advantages and bulked up into the 160s for the fight. Weighing more doesn't necessarily make you bigger.

Khan has never 'exposed' any top fighters flaws.

Canelo was exposed by Floyd, and Erislandy Lara exposed the same flaws again. Khan was just trying to follow the blueprint but he doesn't have the same Ring IQ and chin as Mayweather and Lara.

About 30 seconds to 1 minute. He had been setting it up, and khan ring IQ isn't good enough to pick that up.

Weighing more exactly makes you bigger, in boxing terms. We don't have height or length divisions, they are weight division.

If you are a 160 fighter whose fighting a guy from 147, and have 15-20 pounds on him when the fights starts, you're a bigger guy. Hence why everyone is calling khan smaller.

Of Canelo and GGG, Canelo has longer reach and weighs more. GGG is taller. That's why anyone who claims Canelo is smaller than GGG is wrong, he's just shorter than GGG.
