what? Not beating salido clearly is by no means a proper gauge to measure a fighter's skills and abilities. Salido is a proven vet with tons of tricks, heart, power and a sneaky skill set that has proved to be a test against most world class opponents he has faced. In the last few years he has beaten Lomachenko, Cruz, was turning up against Mikey until the fight was cut short, Lopez x2 and arguably Martinez in atleast one of their fights as well as last night's draw. That's a deep list and Vargas proved his worth since the Miura barn burner, last night just added more fuel to his flame and name.

Vargas could have boxed comfortably and he proved it when he shifted gears later in the fight but would revert to slugging because of his warrior's heart and temperament. The kid can fight and knows how to work behind a jab but his inside fighting was no joke and he just went toe to toe in a phone booth with one of the best inside fighters we have in the sport.

Round robin's suck in boxing. They hem **** up for too long. Just look at the Super Six. Had mfers boxed out who weren't in for 2yrs & 2 guys opted out in the middle of the f#cked thing.

At the elite level just do 4 man tournaments. They work fine & start & stop within 6-8 months 95% of the time. And do for real 4 man tournaments not like that bs with DeGale vs Porky & Jack vs Bute. Make it the legit top 4 or so guys.

The two world class athletes he fought on that list were Mickey, who beat him from pillar to post until he decided to cheat with a dirty headbutt, and Lomo, who he cheated off gate by coming in damn near 20lbs heavier. The rest you mentioned were simply sluggers; nothing speacial. Salido is a gate keeper/ contender and if ever gets a belt again you know he's losing it to the next talent that steps up.

Also your example of him having a barn burner with Miura proves my point. The guy will go in there have a FOTY type fight, shorten his career and do so against guys who aren't special or major paydays. That damage will add up on a guy who hasn't shown he's anything special to begin with.
