How do you rate fighters?

GOAT - the one guy with the best resume in boxing

ATG - great fighters who have done enough against the backdrop of boxing history to be considered all time greats. Dominant champs and P4P'ers during their prime who have beaten other ATG's and HOFers, also in their prime


Elite - world class fighters who usually hold belts and are TOP P4P material, they are the cream of the crop, the best of them are also ATG's (Floyd, Pac, Hopkins, etc)

Top contender - world class fighter who hasn't won a championship yet, or maybe lost it, but can become relevant at any given time due to his skills and high division ranking

Gatekeeper - usually washed up hasbeens or fighters who are good, but not good enough to become top contenders or elite

Prospect - guy who lacks experience but has a lot of hype because he destroys bums and has shown good skills in doing it. He needs to step up

rookie prospect - same as above, just even less experienced

Bum - GGG's average opponent

Ahhhh that's the word I was looking for but used "no hoper" and "bum" instead. Yeah, a journeyman would be the correct term Imo as well.

The term bum was popularized because there were pro fighters in the past who actually picked homeless people off the street to fight and pad their records

Anyway, I found an interesting alternate definition on a boxing site on the web:

Below Usable Measure = a fighter who has less than 12 fights in his whole career or has lost 25% (or more) of fights of his WinLossCareerRecord. A fighter with a WinLossCareerRecord of "34-9" is not a bum, because he has lost only 9 of 43 fights (= 20%). A fighter with a career record of 34-19 would be a bum.
