Lines are set to make the casinos as much money as possible while ensuring they don't lose their shirts. More money will come in on GGG if he's the favorite or underdog. The casinos stand to lose more money if he were the underdog and beat Ward. They wouldn't lose as much if he was the favorite and beat Ward. That's why he would be the favorite. Not because he's better.
Those factors are already factored in before they release a line. With big favorites, the favorite's line will always be set kinda high to try to dissuade as much big bettors as possible to bet it...& also to entice those same bettors to take a shot on the underdog instead (make it too irresistable to not put money on it). When handicappers are making betting lines, the honest truth is that they don't give a flying f#ck about the small bettors...the big bettors are all that matter. They make the lines for them. And when you're trying to dissuade a very rich guy from taking a favorite, you have to set that line so high as to make them reconsider taking the favorite. That's just the way it is. Big money will always take the favorite. Ppl are more than welcome to take the underdog. And one other thing. books will not make a big favorite like GGG an underdog just so they can maximize/minimize profits/losses because the flip side of that argument is that the big bettors will get better value for their bet, forcing the book to pay them more than usual. This is why tons of boxing matches have such huge numbers for favorites. If a big bettor takes a -500 favorite on a boxing match, at least we only pay them that value...if they were to make it -200 just to maximize ppl betting, then they'll lose big time to the big bettors on the back end. Like I've said before, big money will always take the favorite in boxing.

I think you completely made that **** up kid.

And that is just fanboy dribble..... Canelo dropped that belt 5 minutes ago, and I don't believe that a single quantifiable change has occurred within the sports/betting industry..... let alone BEFORE the Khan fight.

I think you are talking utter bollocks, and I think that you completely made up that line about Mexican betters (or any halfwit) betting big money on Khan.

I call bollocks on that ^^
You don't follow the betting numbers troll, so how would you ever know?! I do follow the numbers. I do know...it's my job. That's why i'm telling you how it is. Go back to your bridge & research it if you want...

Yep. And here we finally see Abel repeating himself. So now the GGG fans can be quiet from saying the quote never happened. And BTW, there are some SMWs who could easily handle GGG, but really I doubt he goes after them. He'll stay at MW long as he possibly can. He knows he's done for if he steps up... even if Abel doesn't know or won't admit it.

            I couldn't give a fk about him.

I have seen TONNES of punchers during my lifetime..... Golovkin has passed on too many good fights, with too many weak excuses, for me to sit there happily and watch his bum-a-thon.

            It has become completely inexcusable.
That's the truth. How are you going to take him serious? He refuses to challenge himself as a boxer, and got his fans thinking he is the most feared boxer since Tyson.

Lara doesn't have the power to keep GGG honest...& Ward's work rate is a lot less to be desired. Maybe Zurdo, who will be looking to get that GGG fight in 2017...maybe DeGale, even though his style is he prefers to box rather than hurt his opponents. So, really, there isn't a ton of options out there that can execute the game plan against GGG that you propose.
Well if we haven't seen it we can't say he has it. We do see him hit enough that he should develop ways to get out of the way, and looking at Sanchez's camp no one else is able to do it so I don't expect ggg to be able to either.

As far as the strategy I proposed, many fighters can put pressure on a guy and stay in face, you don't need to be a volume puncher to do that. Ward throws about 50 a rd and will more than likely hit golovkin with half or more, and he can make it up close and rough on the guy. DeGale and the Dirrells are better on the outside than ggg so that would be a winning strategy for them. More than one way to skin a cat you know.

              • When do people stop blaming Abel & assign some responsibility to GGG? Abel works for him. Obviously GGG agrees with Abel because he hasn't told him to STFU yet.

I'm speaking to the people who say Abel should shut up. And if he's right they wouldn't have sent Edwin Rodriguez a contract for 164 & a 10lb rehydration clause.
