On a similar level? Sure, I'd go with that if you like. They were both tremendous hitters, and a decent argument could be made either way if you eschew obvious hyperbole or era bias.

Evander can say what he likes, but he was never knocked down or seriously hurt by Foreman, so I'm not exactly sure when he got the chance to make this astute observation.

Foreman did more with his career than Vitali and Foreman is rightly regarded as a bigger legend than Vitali, but head to head, I don't see anyone except Lennox Lewis beating Vitali in boxing history (yep, I consider Lewis the H2H best heavyweight in history).
Watch the fights with Norton and Frazier, two fighters muchhhhhhhhh better than anyone vitali faced. And see how foreman looked. Foreman was just a completely different beast. Vitali lost to a fat past prime lennox and got TKOd by him. Foreman would sworm him with punches, and defense wise, vitali only uses his iron chin for defense. Even if it becomes a war, Foreman has been in wars with guys like Lyle and still KOd them.
If you seriously thing Lewis is the best heavyweight of all time then there is no reason to debate with you anymore.

Vitali has a 80%chance of winning ...to big/skilled and ha more than enough damaging punching to win convincingly !
Foreman would've killed Vitali. Easily. Vitali couldn't even carry Ken Norton's jock.

Big George would roll Vitali. Even old George could beat Vitali.Last edited by CatchAndShoot; 06-06-2016, 10:01 PM.
