my late father worked in vietnam building schools and other infrastructure projects for usaid and he told us that ali was not really hated by the u.s. military even when ali was in the center of the draft controversy....

having watched most of clay's/ali's fights i believe is one blessing of pure awe and admiration....

    rip champ...you're still the g.o.a.t...

    Me too! Remember this song?

My father is from Venezuela and he told me that every time Ali fought the country literally stops, so i guess that in Usa it was like a superbowl.

I watched Ali during his entire career and I was a big fan. I saw him train at the main street gym in LA. He was better before his forced 4 years out of boxing but he was still great when he returned to boxing. The young Ali was incredibly fast but of course everyone knows that. Yes, I am old but I still like to talk boxing on here.

I remember with friends talking a lot about the upcoming Frazier vs Ali fight after Ali's layoff.

Before that the talk was often about how it would go if Ali would have fought Rocky Marciano.

I always wondered what it's like to watch those guys train. They didn't have everyone filming 24/7 back then so there isn't too much training vids like you have now. Idk if I've even seen most old fighters hit the mitts before.
