that's the firs thing i thought when i saw it. you're fine to think that way. i thought, "wow, one of the greatest boxers of all time just died, and floyd still managed to make it about himself in 2 sentences.
      You are an idiot.

It's not uncommon to talk about the personal impact someone had on one's life. It's called paying tribute to someone. Mayweather is a boxer so Ali's life would have a more direct effect on his life.

People really are blinded by their petty and infantile hatred.

[QUOTE=IronDanHamza;16763821]Ok so saying you don't like a guy is ok but if you go into specifics then you may aswell have gunned down his family. Oh no he just had to go into specifics, could he be more classless ?

Yeah that's it. Going Into specifics and saying why Ali shouldn't be glorified for his accomplishments is downright pathetic.

Floyd Mayweather reacts to Muhammad Ali's passing (before the Oscar article): '......he's one of the guys who paved the way to be where i'm at today....' 146 comments with many saying Floyd is just being selfish wtf

This is a sad day to remember a global icon, not have a go at fighters who pay respect.
One acknowledges how Ali helped fighters in general , one referred to himself.

            That is kind of sad.

floyd managed to make the passing of one of the 5 best boxers ever, and without a doubt the most popular boxer ever, about him.
Crediting a man for your success makes it about you? What about all the other athletes and entertainers who credited the people who came before them for their success. Were they making it about themselves as well?

i don't hate floyd mayweather. i'm not an idiot. again, i went to floyd - canelo in 2013, and i wasn't there for canelo. contributing opinions contrary to your own to an irrational hatred is an easy way to be uncritical.

floyd mayweather does not have a lot of class. guy beat the mother of his children, FFS. you guys seem to think he's jesus .

floyd said 3 sentences about ali, and most of it was about him. "he paved the way for me, so he must have been great."

maybe i'm reading it wrong. i really don't think that i am. it would be par for the course for floyd mayweather to not show a lot of class.

I've seen other quotes where he mentions what he done for the black America and not just him but either way if Oscar said what Floyd said in this article do you think it would have this many comments of criticism?

Seriously dudes. Just for one day, can we stop arguing and trash talking each other/other boxers?

Can we not respect Ali and what he's done for boxing? This man really did pave the way and inspire many generations of boxers to become great. He definitely inspired two of my favorite boxers, Sugar Ray Leonard and Mike Tyson. Let's just shut up for once and keep things classy.
