I agree, Kovalev's resume isn't beautiful... yet, but you can't blame him. He did fight the best possible opponents.. and Chickenson just wants money.

Golovkin as #1 is fair, Gonzalez as #2 meh

    should be

    #1 Golovkin
    #2 Canelo
    #3 Kovalev
    #4 Ward
    #5 Winner of Fury-Klitschko 2

Kovalev doesn't have to prove a damn thing. He is already considered the best light heavyweight in the world and has most of the belts. He beat Hopkins in a fashion no fighter ever came close to doing. He KOs other high ranked light heavyweight contenders with ease. Ward is the one who must prove he is as good at 175 as he was at 168 long ago in the super 6 tournament. Ward hasn't had an impressive win since he stopped weight drained Dawson at 168 many years ago. Ward is in tough and he knows it. That's why he wants another practice fight before fighting Kovalev. Chavez Jr doesn't know what he is talking about even if he is a pro fighter. Kovalev would turn Chavez Jr into his personal punching bag if they fought.

You are right. That is a horrible list and Ward and Crawford being on it make it horrible. Other than that the list is perfect.

The lists are supposed to reflect the most talented fighters who beat the best competition.

now people look at style and dont pay attention to substance(quality of opposition and skills)
If that were true then Floyd wouldn't be number 1 because maidana Guerrero Berto a green Can'tNelo past prime manny and ortrees aren't the best

I give him all the credit in the world for beating Pascal, but Pascal was already beaten by the 49 year old Bernard Hopkins and by Carl Froch years ago.
Cleverely lost to Fonfara, who lost to old man Stevenson.
Campillo is garbage. Doesn't he have like 10 losses or something?

The best person that Kovalev beat is still a 49 year old Bernard Hopkins. He's a legend, and he's not a normal 49 year old, but even if we magically take 10 years off Hopkins' age, he's still old as dirt and has lost to the shadow of Chad Dawson in 2013.

LHW has a lot of exciting fights to be made in the next few years. Beterbiev/Gzodyk/Ward/Kovalev/Alvarez is one of the best groups in any division.
But to say that LHW has been solid and that Kovalev has done a lot is completely unsubstantiated by facts.
                      LOL at BoxRec.

Calling Campillo garbage is ridiculous, especially when Kovalev beat him. He would have been a unified champion at the weight if not for a pair of robberies. He was a good fighter and a very good win back when Kovalev not only beat him, but humiliated him.

Pascal was still a genuinely good fighter, not just at LHW but in general when Kovalev beat him. Froch is a very good fighter, and losing to him is not something to be ashamed of. Especially since Froch/Pascal was a really good fight. Kovalev destroyed him.

Cleverly was a beltholder and a good win. That he gave Fonfara such a tough, close fight shows he is still a quality fighter at the weight, and Kovalev obliterated him.

Old or not, Hopkins was plenty good enough to beat most top 10 fighters at LHW convincingly. And it's not like Kovalev just overwhelmed him with youth. He won every second of every round and looked superior in every aspect.

In between these wins he has dispatched other contenders at the weight with ease. Fighters like Caparello, Mohammedi, and such are nothing special, but they're the kind of contenders that dominating champions dominate, and they were all within the top 10-15 when Kovalev beat them.
