Lol. I think Chavez has jungle fever ever since Golovkin told him directly that he was the best come forward fighter ever.

Most people base things off personal preference. Of course chavez would big up a guy who mimics him lol

The lists are supposed to reflect the most talented fighters who beat the best competition.

now people look at style and dont pay attention to substance(quality of opposition and skills)

I don't agree with the P4P list, but he has a great point about Kovalev. His resume is vastly overrated by most fans, including here.

Kovalev's best win is a 49 year old Hopkins. And yes, Hopkins is an Alien for a reason, but the man was still 49. I'm not blaming Kovalev for his resume - LHW in general is a very unimpressive division, and he did fight the best who was willing to get into the ring with him.

I agree. Marco Antonio Rubio is a much better win.

LHW has been a solid division in recent years, and Kovalev has absolutely obliterated it. Campillo, Cleverly, Hopkins, and Pascal is a good run, and in between he has destroyed top 10 fighters.

Ward's trying to jump-start his stagnated career & is hoping to do it by fighting Kovalev, who is top dog @ LHW. Therefore, it's Ward who needs to prove himself, not Kovalev.

Based on what? It has no star power and everyone's record has a blemish already. If you look at the current list of Top20 LHW per Boxrec, Kovalev has fought #7 and #12. What exactly did he obliterate?
I give him all the credit in the world for beating Pascal, but Pascal was already beaten by the 49 year old Bernard Hopkins and by Carl Froch years ago.
Cleverely lost to Fonfara, who lost to old man Stevenson.
Campillo is garbage. Doesn't he have like 10 losses or something?

The best person that Kovalev beat is still a 49 year old Bernard Hopkins. He's a legend, and he's not a normal 49 year old, but even if we magically take 10 years off Hopkins' age, he's still old as dirt and has lost to the shadow of Chad Dawson in 2013.

LHW has a lot of exciting fights to be made in the next few years. Beterbiev/Gzodyk/Ward/Kovalev/Alvarez is one of the best groups in any division.
But to say that LHW has been solid and that Kovalev has done a lot is completely unsubstantiated by facts.
