Doesn't matter whether Loeffler did or not. The fight was there for Ward for 2 years. He didn't show any interest in negotiating it. He was confused as hell. People need to stop using Ward's name to justify their nonsensical hate towards the Kazakhstani fighter. It's getting old.

This is when K2 gave HBO a list of opponent's GGG was willing to fight. Rodriguez name was on the list. He agreed to fight him & they sent a contract for 164 & a 10lb rehydration limit. This is when they said 154-168 & two years before they said 164 for Ward. This fight made perfect sense at the time. In the article Rodriguez is calling them out for their public statements and private negotiations.
Fight made sense. Cool.
Golovkin was a MW. Cool.
Edwin was a SMW. Cool.
Both fighters are relatively unknown. Cool.
How do fighters in different divisions usually fight each other? Catchweight.
Again, and for the last time, 154-168 does NOT in any shape or form mean that they'll fight ANYONE at ANY TIME. Khan did not fight at 155 for ****s and giggles. Canelo did not decide to cut weight (vs. Floyd) because he suddenly felt like it.

This isn't about Ward. I explained in my opening paragraph that the 164 wasn't a serious offer to Ward. This is about catchweight and rehydration limits negotiated by fighters. Just like the other thread that has everybody bent out of shape. But when GGG does it it's called negotiating and who's the bigger draw. Call BS on him like you would every other fighter

Like Rodriguez said, if he had known they weren't serious about 168 he wouldn't have agreed to fight them and they sent a contract that was a bogus offer & different from what they said in public. He put up & they shut up.
On next week's episode - Golovkin has been ducking Austin Trout all along.

So you're saying Rodriguez agreed to the fight knowing they were going to send a contract for 164 & a rehydration clause. Then reject it when they sent it?

And I'm not claiming they ducked Rodriguez. I'm pointing out the BS they pulled. Canelo is mocked for bringing GGG in the ring and saying Mexico don't F around then backing out of the fight. But when GGG makes a statement and backs down it's good negotiation or a good business move

As seen in the other thread everybody hates rehydration clauses & Haymon was wrong for a rehydration clause that never happened. But when GGG wants a rehydration clause it's a good business move.
