    Now that's absurd.
He thought it was absurd that Golovkin was already a champ and jumped over other fighters ranked by the WBC when he fought Rubio for the interim title. Usually the WBC won't rank champions from other sanctioning bodies. But they did something similar when they made Kovalev vs. Pascal an eliminator even though neither fighter was ranked by the WBC and Kovalev was already the WBO, IBF & WBA champion. Pascal refused to agree and didn't pay the sanctioning fees for the WBC but Kovalev did. He's complaining about the greed of the WBC. But his complaints fall on deaf ears because he was awarded a shot when he fought Martinez.

To be fair. He isn't lying about the sanctioning bodies.. Are there really 6 out there? WBA, WBC, IBF, WBO, IBO?? and what else??

either way, great point, but there's no way he should have commended Canelo for running from the fight the way he did.

Cotto is the real pu**y and how is it the WBC's fault? Canelo didnt want to fight GGG anyway but as he got the belt he has/had to. Cotto better if you retire as you will lose to any class fighter you face.

I agree with Cotto though regarding the greed and pointlessness of having 6 or more champions in each weight class.

Ok. But if he thinks that multiple champs in every division is ruining boxing, he should have applauded the WBC for doing that. Instead, he's condemning them for not keeping their title and their rankings separate from all the other orgs.

This is just self justification and hypocrisy from Cotto, trying to pretend that he did something noble, for the good of boxing, by dropping the WBC belt himself right before he fought Canelo.

He thinks we've all forgotten that he paid Geale for a catchweight and paid Golovkin to step aside so he could keep hold of that same belt himself until he'd milked it dry and had no further need for it.

While he is right about there being too many champions, let's not act like that was the reason both he and Canelo wanted no parts of GGG. Canelo didn't drop the belt because there are too many champs, he didn't want to have to fight GGG unless he could have some kind of advantage, that's all there is to it

Very well put. Cotto is full of ****. He was happy to manipulate the corrupt system as long as it benefited him. Then when the system finally tried to take a step towards uncorrupting itself, and made GGG his mandatory to unify one champion, he complained about how corrupt it was? It doesn't even make sense. It seems like the corruption didn't even bother him before. All that bothered him was having to fight GGG or lose money to duck him by paying a step aside fee.

And, he probably wants the Canelo rematch, so he's going to support any excuse Canelo makes to duck GGG so Canelo stays on his unbeaten run before their rematch.
